Now look what I have done: Went to the Doctor last Thursday; Found the June issure of "Fly RC"; Read the article on the ParkZone Super Decathlon;
Ordered one from Horizon on Saturday; Recieved it at work today, Tuesday!

Any suggestions before I take it out of the box? I haven't flown for about 25 years and I really have an itch sitting behind me at my desk…

I have heard mention of getting a different prop? Changing the battery pack? Or buying an additional pack? Any thoughts on what I should do before I hit the flying field? Yes, I have (re-)joined the AMA.

Thank you in advance,
LSB

great airplane never flown one myself but seen other people fly them. the one thing i would do is switch the prop to a 9X8 or a 10X8 apc or gws make that is it.

definitly buy another pack, youll want to fly more, since you have flown you should have no problem flying it! I reccomend the hand launch method to maximize fly time

I have this plane, my first plane. I've been flying a little over a month. I've mastered the Dec. and since you are experienced, use the high control rates, low rates are actually harder.

I've flown with everything stock and beat the hell out of it! :D It still flies after a piledriver coming out of a loop.

It's a fun parkflyer but now it's kinda boring. I'm waiting for some Pakrzone Stryker parts to come in, but in the mean time I fly combat with the guys at my field using Crepe paper attached to 1-2 planes. It's great having 6 planes in the air all going after 1 plane. Makes for some interesting "contact". My plane now has 2 "claw" marks from a 3D foamie that was chasing my paper tail. :lol:

The landing gear is crap, you'll find that out, but it's bearable. I have a paved runway, so the landing gear seems to last longer, but grass will really tear it up. If you have a paved area to take off from, get a rear wheel and takeoffs are possible if you can keep it straight. Otherwise just hand launch it.

I didn't buy any more batteries b/c I new I was planning on going Lipo (Lithium Polymer) batteries with other planes. Longer runtime, more power, less weight. NiMH probably won't be around much longer, but the prices are much cheaper.

This hobby is so incredibly addictive it's disgusting. (but in a good way! :devil: )
