"It's 6 DVDs full of episodes. We got a full fridge of soda, half a pack of oreos, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses."

We caught the pilot eps of Lost last Christmas and we really enjoyed them. Unfortunately TiVo wouldn't allow us to record it because of a schedule conflict with CSI:NY (don't ask me, it just wouldn't do it). I couldn't talk my wife into dropping CSI:NY, so we figured we would catch Lost during the summer. Everything was going fine until ABC stared airing the reruns slightly out of sequence (they would skip an ep or two). So when season 2 started, we knew we had a problem.

Luckily a coworker lent my wife his DVD set and we had a marathon viewing Friday and Saturday nights. So now we're caught up and ready to start watching season 2. It's a very cool show.

Yeeks, we haven't been that thorough - we're just watching an episode every few nights. I don't expect to catch up in time to see season 2.

We're at episode 9. And DAMN, this is a great show! I feel like an idiot for not watching it because it conflicted with Smallville. Now Smallville sucks and I wish I had watched Lost from the beginning.

We weren't planning on watching the whole thing in one gulp either. At 9 pm Friday night, we both thought we'd watch one episode, maybe two before we went to bed. We stayed up watching until 1 or 2 am. Same thing Saturday, except we started at 6 or 7 and went straight through until midnight. We caught Exodus parts 1 and 2 last night and we're ready for the season premiere tonight.

I also wished I would've caught it during the initial run but in a way it was great to go from one ep to the next without having to wait for the Christmas, spring and summer breaks. Great show!

I stopped watching Smallville years ago. Is Kristin Kruek still a babe?

It's fun perusing fan sites afterwards to read different takes on the plotline. Likewise a friend and I at work walk at lunch on Thursday and discuss it. From comments by the producers and cast, this week's episode is supposed to be a doozy...

So, were the people that bound Jin up really "the others?"

Does the # sequence and "execute" release the "monster", or does it have another purpose?

What was Desmond shooting up?

Cdub -
My thoughts about your questions:
Yes, they're the others - the ones left on the island who didn't make it into the shelter before the disease was unleashed. Hence the Quarantine sign on the inside of the hatch.
Dunno about the numbers and "execute" - I got the impression it was more of a failsafe sequence - as long as there is someone alive to enter the correct password, the island won't be annihilated by the people on the other end.
Desmond is shooting a serum of some kind to ward off the disease - either an antibody or a vaccine.

Uh... If you're talking about "Lost", the season Premiere was two weeks ago on a Wednesday. This coming Wednesday will be the third episode of the season.

If not, disregard, I guess. :)

I never could get in to "Smallville" for some reason. I didn't even know it was on TV 'til it had been on for almost a full year. I've watched a few episodes and it's alright, but not enough to drag me in, really.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW, SO WATCH OUT!

So, were the people that bound Jin up really "the others?"The promo for this week's episode shows the woman with whom Jack had a conversation in the airport in Sydney ... we saw her in the season finale. Therefore, I'm guessing that they're going to find survivors of the tail section of the plane alive on the island this week. The scene in the promo didn't appear to be taking place anywhere but on the island.

In the season opener, could anyone make out what Walt was saying in Shannon's "vision"?

Walt was speaking backwards. Something like "push the button".

Good points AT.

I think the "quarantine" is a red herring to keep whomever's in the hatch down there.

sbaxter - You're right it is the same woman - but she doesn't recognize Jack? Well, I guess after what they've been through, I wouldn't remember someone from a casual meeting at an airport...

Actually, you had a point! Unbeknownst to us, our @$#^% TiVo recorded the premiere but not the second episode. We thought we had both in storage. It will record the third ep... *sigh* So now we have to decide whether we'll watch the third without watching the second.

Are they not re-running ep 2 tonight before ep 3?

Nope. It's the George Lopez (I think? Hispanic comedian - I'm on some funky drugs, so don't remember for sure) new show.

Yeah it was. I was getting a little annoyed with Lost at the Season 1 finale (I thought it was anticlimatic and a little thin), but they've come back in a big way in Season 2.

Does Desmond remind anybody else of Dr Baltar?

Not me, and not even a little bit.

Both my girlfriend and myself thought so as well.

When Locke was trying to remember the numbers and typed in "32," I bet every HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY fan was going "No! It's 42! 42!!"

I'm beginning to think my original theory is right. Everyone on the island is subject to some sort of false memory psychological experiment. I don't think there was an actual plane crash. I don't think the flashbacks are real memories. Maybe they're not even who they think they are. This would explain why everyone on the island seems have a connection with everyone else before the crash, and the "magic numbers" keep popping up in the flashbacks.

At least that's my theory today.

Where the heck was Desmond running off to? Finish his "race around the world"? It seemed to me that didn't make much sense - whatever the countdown meant, since he was cautious about exiting before, even with Jack's reassurance that no one was sick "out there", the safest place would have been inside the compound. Of course, if it was his excuse to get the heck out and let somebody else worry about the damn numbers...

I thought it was pretty clear he was afraid of something happening centered on the compound and so was trying to get as far away as possible. He seemed to think the magetic fields in the compound were kind of ominous.

By the way, I thought that girl looked familiar, and hadn't remember her from the airport. Didn't she joke about switching seats with him? I thought after she was revealed to be with "the others" that she was pretending to have been from the plain. Now, I'm wondering if those people are either passengers who are freaked out about the people so capture them to be safe, or she was a passenger that took up with people already on the island.

Anyone else notice that in the orientation film, the compound was referred to as station 3 and "Number 3 of 6" was on the header?
There are 5 more of those compounds on the island.
