Hi,

First time on the forums, I am currently working on an offroad Go Kart (Dirt Devil at www.diyden.net ). I plan on using the GX200 Clone engine avalible on ebay, and have a few questions about adding more power, hopefully someone here can answer. What type of cheap easy ($100-150) mods can I do to these engines to gain more horsepower? I have seen those K & N airfilters on some of the hondas, where can I pick up one of these, and what type of difference do they make? I was also thinking of using just a header no muffler, because noise is not an issue. The mods need to be kept easy as I am only 16 and do not have many tools. Also what type of fuel and oil should I use, I was think something like the racing go karts use could increase performance like synthetic oil or high octane fuel? I have a 72 tooth sprocket on the axle and 12 tooth clutch. The kart with me in it will weigh about 250-300 pounds and I want to rip the trails up, so any suggestions would be great. Also if you have any questions just ask. Thanks

get a engine with more hp, simple and easy, they can only run their set rpms, you can run a straight pipe, won't help much, run high octane.....won't help much, use synthetic, will give it a little more punch to it, but not enough to even help, also the k&n air filter, not only lets in more dirt, really wouldn't help much more then air incoming. and since its a clone( really don't know of any mods for hondas anyway) it'll probablly not work right, being a clone, plus not to mention upping the rpms if you want to, you'll have more problems....valves, connecting rod......

Hello Anthony,

From waht i have read, looks like you trying to get some power out of that clone GX200.Well there are several things you can do to this motor, depends on what you would like to spend, and most of it is just replacement parts. To be able to handle most mods to that motor you should have a race preped connecting rod, this will alow the lubercation you will need on the rod and crank surface,Titanium rod bolts,Super light wrist pin,and many more things can be done.Send me an email Anthony and tell me what you would like for your motor to do and I will help you as much as I can. With just a few minor mods that motor could run over 4500 RPM's and never skip a beat.
