I just received two more discs from Mondo Macabro. Since I do more than my fair share of complaining (because I buy more than my fair share of discs :)), it's always nice to give a big "thumbs up" to a company that really does it right.
Mondo Macabro has a very small catalogue of VERY obscure titles. Fortunately, that catalogue is slowly growing and I hope to one day own every title that they produce. This isn't an easy task because these folks aren't exactly Warner Brothers when it comes to distribution. But I'm going to try an add one of their titles to every online order I make.
I now have four of their DVDs: THE LIVING CORPSE, BLOOD OF THE VIRGINS, MILL OF THE STONE WOMEN and THE GIRL SLAVES OF MORGANA LeFAY.
The attention to detail is exceptional. All of the titles I've received have been OAR with the widescreen movies being anamorphic. My two most recent acquisitions (Stone Women and Girl Slaves) are true 1.66 anamorphic (many companies do these as about 1.80 anamorphic and claim they are 1.66). The video quality is outstanding. I was checking the transfer rate of Girl Slaves and it was so high that it was reading as or higher than my Superbit DVDs (that means very low compression). The discs are presented in their original languages with optional English subtitles...sometimes an English dub is an option but not all films have one available.
The movies are uncut and that generally means we see a European version of the film. The amount of extra material is fantastic when you consider how obscure aome of this stuff is. MILL OF THE STONE WOMEN, a French Italian coproduction from 1960, has deleted and alternate scenes, three audio tracks, trailer, still and poster gallery...well, you can read about the extras on the films at the link below.

If you are looking for something unconventional, Mondo Macabro is a company that really delivers the goods.
