View Full Version : Truck suggestions...pleez MonsterMan22 09-29-2005, 07:21 PM Hey I have a traxxas t-maxx and im lookin for a new truck...any suggestions?? I am having to many problems with my T-Maxx BAR 26 09-29-2005, 08:34 PM SAVAGE SAVAGE SAVAGE I have one and i LOVE it!!!!!!! VERY strong as well!! MonsterMan22 09-29-2005, 10:10 PM Ok thank you...but also when i drive my t-maxx...it works fine for awhile and then starts to go slow and the when i let go of the throttle it will turn off...could it be because it is gettin to hot? Should i get a new cooling head? Also It wont shift into 2nd gear. Anyone know why? MonsterMan22 10-01-2005, 11:28 AM come On Guys I Need Help!!! savage 14 10-01-2005, 02:59 PM i like my savage as well it is a tuff truck,... and i would try playing around with the needles and ajusting the shift point in the trany-if it has a spot to i know my savage dose. hope this helps BAR 26 10-01-2005, 04:41 PM as for the slow thing ( I'm not an expert by anymeans!!!! ) but i think it might be because its running on he rich side and not getting enough RPM to shift into 2nd gear, Savage 14 you had a similar probleme with urs right??? Hope THAT helps LOL BAR 26 savage 14 10-01-2005, 08:54 PM o ya i didnt but my brother did so (ya im not an expert by anymeans either lol) i would try ajusting the carb before you start with the trany. i know we leaned his out and it worked so i would try leaning it out unless your pretty sure its getting to top RPM. Norm 10-02-2005, 11:38 AM I suggest trowing away that crappy t-maxx motor and getting an OS motor for it. That would breath new life into that monster. The T-Maxx motors are great untill you have to do your fist tune, then they just go all to &%LL. I went through 3 of them my first year and lost my patience with them and almost gave up nitro all together. Once I put that OS in, all was good. you dont need a new truck, that would just be a waste of money. rockstar_1 10-04-2005, 07:45 PM How long has it been since u rebuilt it? It sounds like the piston is worn. Try rolling the fly wheel with your fingure, if it doesn't hurt, its time. As for the tranny, i've adjusted mine so it is possible, but not easy.Hard to explain how, read the manual for details. Tip for the day, after shutting off your nitro turn the flywheel so that the piston is at the bottom. This will close the sleeve as much as possible and prolong the life of the motor. muck 11-16-2005, 08:49 AM i had some heat issues and lack of power a while ago my self. I found my rear axle shafts and wheel bearings where causing binding and over working the engine. I have a savage also and love the durability of it, HPI builds it well. The only down fall i have found with it is the diffs are not sealed where the skids screw to the bottom of the diff housing (water got in) and my shafts all squeek. Night and day difference to the Maxx. eupracer 11-17-2005, 05:28 PM I own and love my Losi LST. Only problem I had with it was the crappy Dynamite Mach .26 motor it came stock with. I threw that out and put a HPI .25 in it and I have a HPI .28 that I run in it as well. That truck and those motors tear S__t up. but if you not looking to spend much then I would go with Norms suggestion, buy a new motor for that bad boy and give er H_LL. My suggestion for a motor is the Either the O.S. engines or HPI's line of motors, I have had good things with both brands, can't go wrong either way. nitr0racing21 11-18-2005, 06:14 PM I own and love my Losi LST. I m sorry that motor is a beast you must have broken it in wrong the mach 26 will out perform your motor anyday If I need to I would prove it but I suggest if you plan to race to get a traxxas revo it will clearly outperform any MT in its class if you want a very strong basher i suggest a HPI savage. eupracer 11-25-2005, 11:23 AM I m sorry that motor is a beast you must have broken it in wrong the mach 26 will out perform your motor anyday If I need to I would prove it but I suggest if you plan to race to get a traxxas revo it will clearly outperform any MT in its class if you want a very strong basher i suggest a HPI savage. When you go thru 3 of those motors during break in there is something wrong with em. Dynamite even admitted it. If you do a search you'll see how bad teh first batch of motors was. They maybe better now but I'll continue to run my HPI motors XXX-S_KID 06-19-2006, 10:52 PM Ok thank you...but also when i drive my t-maxx...it works fine for awhile and then starts to go slow and the when i let go of the throttle it will turn off...could it be because it is gettin to hot? Should i get a new cooling head? Also It wont shift into 2nd gear. Anyone know why? I had the same problems, i was able to fix the shift problem, but im still working on the fact that it just cuts out, i have some ideas on how to fix it, i might go up to the hobby shop tommrow and get a few things and when i get my truck to run rite i will try to help you out as much as i can. also what engine do you have in ur maxx? 2.5, 2.5r, 3.3, or something else? badassrevo 06-20-2006, 08:55 AM I love my REVO, I have had no problems with the 2.5R, 3.3 and an OS .18TZ. I would keep the maxx and spend the money on an OS.18 TM, Proline steering kit and a Maxx 3.3 tranny off of ebay for like $45. You would have a nice ride. nascarfan 07-07-2006, 05:18 AM If you buy a new truck I would suggest a Revo 3.3, If you swap engines the OS .18 is a smooth powerful engine and very easy to tune, but get ready to upgrade the drivetrain. curt garrett 07-08-2006, 11:33 PM sounds like carb tuning is a lot of the problem. Each engine brand and size will tune a little different. grc21 09-27-2006, 10:43 PM i have a revo with an os engine. i'm having trouble keeping the flywheel tight on it though. any suggestions? badassrevo 10-02-2006, 09:54 PM what engine? If you have the TZ you will need a special clutch nut and collet fron 1/10th road cars. If you have the TM all the stock Traxxas stuff should work. bigshanno 10-19-2006, 04:07 AM CEN Genesis... ;) Theyre not as popular as teh savage's, but I totally recommend them for jumps and tough offroad. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
