crazytony 10-11-2005, 09:01 AM Thanks everyone, new case will be done next week. Just in time for the midwest oval race in KC.
I bought 2 packs from Tony, Numbers ranged from 1.188-1.192's @30, I was very impressed when the numbers cycled higher then the lables, here are the number at 35amps
Pack #1 (label numbers, 464sec. 1.189 15int @30)
375sec. 4.72 4.74@1v 9.8 int (air)
Pack #2 (label numbers, 469sec. 1.192 14int @30)
389sec. 4.72 4.75@1v 9.7 int (air)
so on average i got 1.18's@35 amps which is higher then the labels on the packs
Also this was the last batch of 3800's that had lower numbers, this new batch should be killer!!!!!!!!
dave w 1 10-14-2005, 12:41 PM Those Numbers Are Low On Voltage And Hi On Your Air
BUT WHO CARES AS LONG AS THERE FAST ;)
Those Numbers Are Low On Voltage And Hi On Your Air
BUT WHO CARES AS LONG AS THERE FAST ;)
Like i said this was the OLDER DATE CODE, not the new one where the voltage got crazy,
erock1331 10-18-2005, 09:23 AM for the older date code, those numbers are right in line, IR's might be touch higher than some, but the voltage is right there.
after 3 weeks, here are the latest numbers
#1
345 sec.
4.76
4.78@1v
9.8 air
#2
368sec.
4.74
4.75@1v
9.9 air
Pack #1 deadshorted
Pack #2 trayed for 1 hour before charge
Just so everone knows, the lables on these packs where only 1.18-1.19@30 amps
All my cycles where done at 35 amps
so pack #1 came out to a 1.19@35 amps, way higher then the label reads
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TONY

I think traying them for 1 hr might be a bit too long. I think the current practice is to put them in a ZeroThirty tray just until the lights go out (usually less than a minute or two) and then charge them -- this way you don't have the runtime loss.
Also note that anytime you cut the runtime -- like on pack #1 -- you are going to have an increase in the AVG voltage just from the math. It doesn't necessarily mean the pack is any stronger. You have to look at the voltage throughout the discharge curve to see if it is really any higher -- from the discharge curves I've seen so far on the IB's, there is barely any difference dead short vs. not dead short -- the only difference is a loss of a bunch of runtime.
Most guys around here are NOT dead shorting any of the new cells (IB or IP).
Your mileage may vary :p

MK Race 11-14-2005, 07:51 PM Oh no, Bret going to be in the area again!!!!! Omaha? We raced at there last weekend. Bring the dirt stuff because I think there is going to be a race in Indiana that weekend. Or you could go to Allen's in Springfield and run on the carpet.

Hey Mike,
I don't have dirt stuff anymore, all pancar now. I didn't see a race date for the Omaha race, but I only have Saturday and Sunday available to race. I'm not going to take my stuff unless I have something confirmed and I need to make up my mind tomorrow because I leave Thursday morning at 6AM.
Anyhoo, sometime we'll have to see each other again.
Later, Bret
MK Race 11-22-2005, 10:51 PM Hey Bret,
You can race at Allen's RC in Rochester, just outside Springfield, on Sunday or Galesburg on Saturday night.
We'll have to meet up sometime for sure.
Have a nice Thanksgiving,
