I want to let everyone know about my experience with Murdock Tires. I recently purchased a set of tires from Murdock R/C and the service was great. I ran them for the first time this past weekend and they where fast from the start. I ran faster then the track record at are local track all night long in the 19t zero degree class. And reset the record by almost a hole lap in the main. So I would strongly suggest to everyone to give them a try. The quality is top notch the wheels are straight and don't wobble like some of the other tires on the market.

So if you are looking for a tire with great quality and a online hobby shop with great service click on the link on the side of the page check out the web site and give Rob a call. You wont be disapointed.

I would like to hear what everyone else thinks.

Keep up the good work Rob.

Jason,
Your right about the quality of Rob's tires, I have been buying tires from him for many years. The other great thing is he will custom package sets of tires based on the tire compounds you like to run, you no longer have to buy sets of the same compound if you like different compounds on each wheel. If you want to run with Rob come up to HobbyPlex in Omaha, NE November 11,12 & 13 for a great weekend of oval racing on what is considered to be the best track in the midwest.

Jim,

I won't be able to make the race in Omaha this fall and it is killing me. It will be the first time in two years. I hope to make it in the spring. Hope to see some of you guys in Kc on the 22nd and 23rd of Oct.

One more note on the tires. The car was even faster this weekend.

Keep up the good work Rob.

Thanks Guys, we try to bring the best that we can to you. Here are the details on our tires and why they are better for those who dont know yet.

THE RIMS!!!!!!!!! There is not another rim out there right now that is better. Murdock R/C wheels are smaller, lighter and proven to be faster. Here are the specs

Size-1.80 inches = lower center of gravity, less rolling resistance, longer tire life, more tire for your money

Flex Characteristics = speed. They settle nice in the corners and create a great feeling race car

Durability- NOTHING is better. The material used with our rims is like no other. They will take any hit thrown at them. No cracking, half moons on the edges break out, no centers breaking. Just to give you an idea on durability last season I was spun out entering a corner running 19 turn. My dad drilled me wide open in the right rear tire. I went ahead and finished the race and afterwards we realized that his graphite bumper cut 3/4 of the way through the rim and I still finished the race and had no idea that the damage was that bad.

These tires (the wheel being the difference) have been tested back to back with other brands and everytime that I know of they have been faster. And that is saying that with all due respect to my fellow tire manufacturers. But it has been proven time and time again. If you havent tried them yet, at least give them a shot and form your own opinion. We look forward to hearing from you

I like the idea of your rims being a little smaller Rob, but I disagree with your statements indicating a flexible wheel is faster. Personally I believe that the best overall wheel has the best balance between stiffness and durability. For example, Jaco wheels are stiff but not durable. While your wheels, judging by the description, are very durable but not stiff. To me I think the BSR wheels are the best combination.

That being said I have never tried your tires, so maybe they are superior.

Yes it is the old racetech wheel but with improvements to the material. There is a picture of it on Robs web site ( MURDOCK R/C ) listed under radio control to the right. On his site click on the 1/10th foam oval tire section for the picture. The rim is black but it has been molded by Rob in a gun metal gray color for some drivers in California. That color is really nice looking also.

It is not that they are "flexable" Pat, it is that they have just enough give to allow a car to settle is the theory. It is kinda like going from a solid chassis car to a slider (if that is the right way to word it). By no means to the flop and flex as your post indicates they are just very different than any others on the market. If a wheel is to stiff then again you count on the suspension taking up the slack everywhere just as you would with solid chassis car. The mix of materials and properties are what make these what they are.

Instead of saying "not stiff". I will say "not as stiff". I don't think anyone thinks they "flop around" lol.

I know lots of guys like more chassis flex and maybe a little rim flex is just the ticket for them as well. Personally I would prefer everything be as stiff as possible and rely on my suspension to do its job. Just a preference.

While I really appreciate opinions and ideas this is thread for supporting our products as is all others in the product support area. They are intended for getting information to our customers and informing them of advantages that are here for the taking if you so choose. If you support other products please go to their support thread and show your support there and not make issue with our products here. I feel that a product must me at least tried before you fully realize the impact that it may or may not have. I feel that this should be the case with all threads here. To many topics are staying these days or people getting on support threads and talking about another company. Lets stick to the topics at hand and not be critical especially if you have not tried the products.

All I know is when you can pick up a lap by running someone's tires that say alot about the quality of the tire. So give them a try I think you would like them. I know I will be running them from now on. Jason

The last couple of years I've been using BSR and Jaco tires. At last years Region 8 race I ran BSRs, but won a pair of Murdock gray rears as a door prize. My buddy bought a pair and also won a pair of gray rears too. We both did run them after that and thought they were fine. I do like the rims. I don't see anything wrong with them.

The Product Support forum was setup to allow companies to help their customers that have questions or to get advice about the products they sell. Taking these threads off topic or promoting other companys products within these forums defects the purpose of them and hurts your fellow racers that is trying to get advice. I would suggest from now on that we attempt to keep the Product Support threads on topic and if you have opinions about another company that you provide that opinion on that company's thread.

If you like that company reps offer advice then keeping their threads on topic is one way the help insure that they continue to do so. Thank you and I am sure your fellow racers thank you also.

B, I remember the look you had after you put those tires on and ran them the first time at the region 8 race last year. Your car looked better right from the start.

MK Race, Hope to race with you again some day. Was a great challenge at the region 8 race last year. We have a big picture of your car and mine( of course my car with Murdock R/C tires on it) sitting on the front row of the A main in stock at that region race at the Plex.

Rob has given away alot of door prizes at these big events. Alot of his tires were given away at the region 8 race and at the 2 day oval event in Vinton. He really gave alot of support to the IROAR club in Vinton for that race in March. The Murdock R/C tires have been on cars that have won some big events. This year they won the TQ and win in brushless at Vinton, Iowa, they were on cars that won the 12th scale oval region 8 race and a 14 year old girl driver on Murdock R/C tires won the 19T open timing class at the region 8 just to name a few.

Also like SLOWPOKE said above, these tires can be purchased as single tires. Great idea. Your can buy a performance pack of 4 different colored tires to go around your car. A great money saver. You don't have to buy them in pairs.

Later.

Product clarification

I have had some questions lately about the "Black" compound. We already have it. Here at Murdock R/C we have chose to classify it "Double Gray" and for this reason. The Black that everyone was really in tune which is rarely available these days. It durometered in the 48 to 50 range where as now it is 45 or so at best. Not much of a spread but still enough that we are staying with the "2 Gray" Classification. I thought I should post that so that everyone who is wondering would be aware of fact that we do have the rubber your looking for it is just classed a little different than my fellow tire builders. Thank you for everyones outstanding support.

You guys did really give away a lot of tires at both races. It was a good way to get to try your tires. It was one door prize that was put to good use.

Bill, can't wait to return to Hobbyplex again. We should be there for the November race.

Thanks Mike, I do all I can to support the local tracks (as well as others). It is a great way to promote but better yet give back to my friends. Everyone I race with is a friend first, customer second. I enjoy seeing someone excited about a free shirt, tires or whatever. I have a few goodies ready to send to Fastlane for their upcoming race.

Right on!!!! Rob and I still hope to make it to Fastlane but since it rained here and we are behind on picking corn we may not make that one, but for sure I'll be at HOBBY Plex in Nov for that 2 dayer'. Won't miss that one. The week after that Rob and I and maybe SLOWPOKE are headed to N. Carolina to the OVALMASTERS at the SANDHILLS. This is turning into one whopper of an event also. Take Care.

Your welcome to buy tires and rubber however you would like. ;) I started that option for a reason. To save people money, and get them what they want without being forced into buying pairs. This has worked our great to say the least. You can buy one tire to try, or 4 tires of different compounds that you like at a certain track or however your race program needs them.

For those of you who are not aware of this program here is what I do. You can buy SINGLES (one tire), PAIRS (two tires), or PERFORMANCE PACKS (4 tires of choice). It is a great option for you to save money. And it is even better now that gas prices are high. Lets say for example you like four different compounds on each corner of your car. Well, you can buy them that way here at MURDOCK R/C & PERFORMANCE. Instead of having to buy 4 pair costing you in the range from $75 to $84 dollars you can buy the 4 tires of your choice at $42 from us. Or if your right front is wore out you can buy 1 tire at $10 and still have gas money or entry fee this weekend to race.

what are the rims on thoughs tires like?? are they brittle, or do they flex??? im not sure which ones better, which one WOULD be better?

Thanks Matt, Im really glad that combo worked out for you.

Bar 26, with all due respect to my competition you will not find a better wheel right now. They are smaller(1.80), lighter, and offer properties that are unmatched on the track. Durability is unmatched. The material used is very different than other wheels that allows the wheel to offer a little bit forgiveness and they do not break at all. In most cases guys who simply have changed to our rims and done nothing more to their cars have picked up time and big amounts in some cases. If you like that car set up you will love the tires as well.

I would have to agree with Rob. I hit the wall real hard a couple weeks ago at a Race In Kc. I went over to where my car was expecting to find a broken out ring on the tire. The rim was fine didn't hurt it at all. Keep up the good work.

Hey everyone if you havn't tried Rob's tires than you are missing out. I took a set off my car Sat at Sandhills and give to a guy in 19T that has been struggling. To make a story short he went almost a lap quicker. Thats almost 4.5 seconds off his time. I think you should give them a try. They put me 5th in the a at the snowbirds in Expert 19t last year. I havn't had any problems at all running his tires. Maybe i'll get to meet you one day Rob....
