He was a funny man and Get Smart was a classic show. The article doesn't mention Tennessee Tuxedo which is another fond childhood memory of mine.

I grew up watching Get Smart and thought the world of Adams. I wish he had been seen more after the series ended.
Another great gone.

"I asked you not to do that...."

yeah Tennessee's in there! (at the bottom)

(Then there was Don Adams Screen Test. I remember the one of "Psycho" with Ed Asner.)

He was so funny on GET SMART, the way he did it so straight. And of course Inspector Gadget. It was not long ago that he was on TV LAND, when the ran Get Smart. I was good to see him.

He will be missed. I can hear him now "Would you believe....".

Get Smart was one of the best spoofs ever. Don's bumbling, stumbling Maxwell Smart never failed to bring a smile to my face.

Scene: Don passes through the Pearly Gates. He steps up to meet the Lord. Just as he reaches God he stumbles spilling his drink all over God's robe. With out missing a beat he looks up and says "Sorry about that, Chief."

Thanks for the laughs Don.

Instead of the Pearly Gates, he'll get that complicated set of doors that ends in a telephone booth.

Don was great! Whether you remember him as Maxwell Smart or Herman Glick or Tenessee Tuxedo or Inspector Gadget, Don and his exagerrated William Powell voice will be missed... and by more than that much! Finally, Don Adams has been 'Eighty-sixed'.

Sorry about that, Don! Rest in Peace.

This drives home a very unpleasant reality that we baby-boomers have to contend with.

At the risk of sounding morbid, at lot of those people that we grew up with are entering the death zone. I think of the recent passing of Bob Denver, Ray Walston (My Favorite Martian), James Doohan, Jonathon Harris and more. Many of those cultural icons of the 1960's were in their 30's and 40's when we got to know them on TV. They are now in their 70's and 80's.

I fear we are in for a rough ride over the next years.

When you think of the surviving stars from some of those old favorites from THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW to McHALE'S NAVY, you have to know that we are enjoying their presence on borrowed time.

I hear you, Brent. But I've faced this 'unpleasant reality' years ago when I realized that practically all of the authentic movie stars are now gone. I never really gave it a thought as a kid when I would see the likes of Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, Jack Benny and others on all the popular talk shows of the day - Mike Douglas, Merv Griffin, Johnny Carson, etc... I took it for granted.

I can hardly watch today's talk shows like Leno & Letterman. Maybe I'll watch the monologue but the guests mean nothing to me. They're not real celebrities, not bonafide stars. They're cheap imitations. Harrison Ford is about the only real 'star' who comes close to capturing the magic of Hollywood's heyday for me.... and, thankfully, Sean Connery is an old school STAR who is still with us... But, other than that....

And now the real television stars are quickly disappearing! Thank goodness Jodie Foster is likely to be around a while!

Add to that how old we're getting!

speak for yourselves, "I plan to live forever"And just how do you intend to accomplish that? Do you have your blood changed every year like they say Keith Richards does, or have you made a pact with a certain supernatural entity?

I always cracked up watching that routine. I remember seeing it in repeats during the '70s. What a great show!
