Does the intake valve close half way up the compression stroke or just after bottom dead centre ,I have reground the vaves and the starter does not turn it over now , is it the starter or too much compession ,the battery is well charged.

ohv? as long as the timing is right, it could be off, catching it at the compression stroke, what cranking amp is the battery?
