I think it was you who posted a link to a website that sells rolls of rubber and such that could be used for outside turn borders. I can't remember what thread I saw that in, however (and it wasn't hoslotcarracing.com).
And if it wasn't you that posted it -- well you know most everything when it comes to HO cars and tracks so you are just a good person to ask!
So does that link ring a bell????
Thanks,

The foam material is available at http://www.mcmaster.com/
Enter "neoprene foam strips" in the search box and you'll be presented with several options. I used the material listed under: Adhesive-Backed Neoprene Foam Rubber Strip, catalog number 8694K78 because I wanted 1" wide. The 1:32 folks use the wider version of the same material with success.
If you get the adhesive backed material - the adhesive is very strong. Take your time laying it down. Once it's down you can't move it. I peeled the backing off a few inches at a time as I aligned it. It goes down very quickly. Like I said, this material is 1/4" thick and Tomy track is actually a slight bit thicker than 1/4". It's soft enough to be gouged by a high speed metal guide pin. Painting it reduces this vulnerability somewhat. But it's only about 25 cents per foot.
Here's another source for a track border material that fits the Tomy track:

The On-Slot border is about 60 cents per foot. I would ask the vendor whether it is a foam based product or a solid rubber based product and whether it is slightly thicker than 1/4".
The material that Gregory Braun sells (http://www.hoslotcarracing.com/) is $1.85 per foot but it is a denser material and it's slightly thicker than 1/4".
