Here are some pics of some interesting cars that I've been working on. What makes these cars interesting is that they are machined on a CNC machine.
These are rough cuts with only a 3mm bit, a finishing pass needs to be done with a finer bit to bring out the small detail...
Pictured are an Indy Racer machined from cast acrylic and another one from Oak. There are a couple 49 Merc's, one machined from Pine and another 49 Merc from a solid block of Delrin.
The picture of the two Mercs shows the larger diecast car which was the 'template' for the smaller car (machined out of white Delrin). The larger car was scanned on a laser scanner and the file converted to an STL file. This enabled me to scale down the Merc to fit a T-Jet chassis and then send that to the CNC machine, which will create an exact copy every time.
What I've actually used this for up to now is for testing the fit of cars and parts before I send the file to an injection molder to use for tooling.
