So, I can't afford these for a while, but those of you who can, please let us know your opinion of the collection. I'm curious to know if the commentary tracks are the same as the podcasts, completely new or a combination of new and old. "The Lowdown" featurette is lifted from the miniseries DVD and the deleted scenes are probably the same as those off the official website. All in all, the extras may not hold any surprises.
But, of course, I will own it.

While I just got the US Season I box set yesterday, I've noted the following:
1) Although the box set does contain the miniseries itself, and the commentary is the same, the deleted scenes from the mini are not included. The deleted scenes (on disk 5) are from the episodes themselves, starting with "33". So ... if you want the deleted scenes from the miniseries ... you gotta buy (or keep) the miniseries disk itself. :(
2)"Battlestar Galactica :The Lowdown", and "Battlestar Galactica: The Series Lowdown" are NOT the same animal. It looks as if some of the interviews from both shows were filmed at the same time and carefully edited for each presentation. "Battlestar Galactica:The Lowdown" (on the Miniseries disk) is tailored, obviously, for the Miniseries. "Battlestar Galactica: The Series Lowdown" concentrates on the series itself and NOT the Miniseries ... Two different shows with several different interviews ... although there are a few portions of some interviews that are common to both.
3) The episode commentaries for the episodes "33" through "Flesh and Bone" are new commentaries. The "Pod-casts" start with "Tigh me up, Tigh me down", and continue from that point on ... but are edited ever-so slightly from the SciFi web site to better fit the timing of the episode.
It's also kind of funny how a lot of the menus show the TOS Mk I Vipers in the background instead of the Mk II version actually used in the show.
So ... Before you throw out or sell your Miniseries disks ... check the differences first for yourself, and make your choice from there.
Personally, I'm keeping my Miniseries disk.

I want those really bad! Is the quality good on the discs?

Thanks for the info. So, for someone who devours the official website, it looks like a lot of familiar territory. But I can't complain. We just got to see the extras before the DVD release.
I'm glad the "Lowdown" special is unique.
