Fantastic Plastic Models is officially open for business!

I am now accepting pre-orders for the first in what I hope will be a long line of "fantastic" model kits: The Avro 730 supersonic concept bomber. This was a unique high-speed combat and reconnaissance aircraft developed by the U.K. during the 1950s; to maximize its aerodynamic performance, it had no cockpit windscreen. The plane was to be flown entirely by instruments!

The kit, mastered by Scott Lowther and cast by Controlled Energy Designs, is an all-resin kit in 1:144 scale. It features 17 pieces and builds up to create a desktop model measuring a full 13.5 inches in length. Decals by JBOT are also included.

The model kit retails for just $65. An additional two-piece Aurora-style stand is also available for just $7 more. (It's heavy!) Kits will start shipping October 1; if you want the stand, there will be a short wait of one additional week.

For more information, please visit the Fantastic Plastic Virtual Museum Gift Shop at:

If you love werid, exotic "What If?" aircraft like I do, you will love this model kit!

WATCH THE SKIES!

I love alll that Avro stuff. They were ahead of their time. They had the first jetliner, an advanced fighter, and lots of weird Gerry Anderson type stuff. Too bad they were in Canada. None of it got made.
