My buddy picked up a used computer that has windows 98 on it. However,to hook to the interenet thru his cable provider you have to use 98SE His other buddy has a disk of 98 SE Updates. This computer use to run on a DSL hookup with out a problem other than speed. NOW FOR THE PROBLEM when you try to update it tells you to do a scan disk first. However, we've tried and it wont scan the disks keeps giving us delete programs running and try again. Well we did that same results. Question is can we take this computer back to his buddies that use to use it on a DSL line and hook back to the internet and DOWNLOAD 98SE OFF THE INTERNET. Sorry this is so long and probably hard to understand or does anyone else have any other ideas ? THANKS
