THE DARKSIDE 09-10-2005, 10:04 AM There is a new wheel in the works made from a different material MURDOCKRC 09-10-2005, 10:54 AM Why not use Murdock R/C tires guys. I have the smallest and by far the most durable wheel on the market. More life, no breakage, and they have been proven to be faster in most cases. JPH Racing 09-10-2005, 11:22 AM Not sure how long it will be before the new Jaco stuff is out ... They lowered the retail pricing also. Two good moves on Jack's part after declining sales because of the poor rim material .... John's BSR tires are another great choice! rickk5 09-10-2005, 11:39 AM yes murdock has awesome tires and wheels you should give them a try, also t.m. racing tires are also very good davepull 09-10-2005, 01:46 PM www.rc4less.com nuff said. pancartom 09-10-2005, 01:48 PM i've been using tm tires for the last season, and i've been happy with them. i might try a few sets of the murdocks, though. i tried bruce's stuff last year, and just couldn't get them to work for me. to bad, because bruce is a great guy, and his service is second to none! i've heard that jack has been coming out with new wheels for longer than i want to think about.... i just don't believe it. rickk5 09-10-2005, 02:25 PM rc4less has great rubber but those wheels are as ugly as the green trc wheels, sorry cant do it!!! RPM 09-10-2005, 09:38 PM rc4less has great rubber but those wheels are as ugly as the green trc wheels, sorry cant do it!!! RC4Less has the best compound for there tires. (Italian rubber - ellegi) TRC - has an awesome rims BSR - Rims are not good. Tend to run on the tire truer out of round. Parma - Not bad tires. davepull 09-10-2005, 10:16 PM from what I understand Parma uses the same rubber as TRC frank p. 09-11-2005, 10:01 AM rc4less tires are some of the best i ever ran. VERY TRUE rim and the most consistant durometer reading period. Great job Bruce!! When you buy tires look at the quality not the BIG name Racin Steve 09-11-2005, 10:37 AM RC4Less has the best compound for there tires. (Italian rubber - ellegi) TRC - has an awesome rims BSR - Rims are not good. Tend to run on the tire truer out of round. Parma - Not bad tires. RPM ... you sure make it sound like you hold the truth buddy ;) I beleive no one shall make such statements as "this is good/this is not" ... I'm sure everyone will appreciate your opinion if you stick to your "likes and dislikes". Steve. team BSR Ernie P. 09-11-2005, 11:22 AM Guys; something to consider. A wheel like Jaco's; that is very light and stiff, and therefore doesn't flex under stress; will also tend to be "brittle"; and will therefore break easily, if you nail the wall. A wheel that is "crash resistant", will also tend to be heavier and will flex under stress. So, don't slam Jaco too hard for making wheels that perform well, but are prone to damage when hitting the walls. For that matter, don't criticise any one who chooses to make wheels that are more crash resistant, but flex under strain. All the folks who make wheels choose the combination of features thay think we will like. They give us choices. The choices we make depend on our personal needs. All the wheel manufacturers do a good job; thay just make different wheels for different performance envelopes. Isn't that a good thing? Thanks; Ernie P. pancartom 09-11-2005, 01:09 PM i won't bash jaco for brittle wheels, if you break one, you hit something. my gripe is that they are consistantly un true. the centers of the rears are ALWAYS too big to register correctly on the truer mandrel, and the wheel hubs. the fronts fit the bearings ok, but wobble. some are so bad, you can't even run them. i find it hard to believe that i am the only one that had these issues with them... BigClay 09-12-2005, 01:16 AM The only way a JACO wheel will wobble is unless you are reaming out. Davepull JACO does Parma tires. pancartom 09-12-2005, 06:58 AM The only way a JACO wheel will wobble is unless you are reaming out. Davepull JACO does Parma tires. why would you ream out a rear wheel???? measure the id of the wheel, and the od of ANY hub/arbor in the industry. then go measure a tm, rc4less, or even a bsr. tell me what you see! erock1331 09-12-2005, 08:19 AM why would you ream out a rear wheel???? measure the id of the wheel, and the od of ANY hub/arbor in the industry. then go measure a tm, rc4less, or even a bsr. tell me what you see! i think clay meant reaming out the front wheels could be wrong though haysreeling 09-12-2005, 09:09 AM .whoops Jack Rimer 09-12-2005, 11:20 AM A couple things to clarify: We lowered our prices to make room for our new 2-stage tires at the high end of our product line, not because our sales were declining. We are facing more competition from imported tires, but with the introduction of the 2-stage tire we should be able to maintain our position, if not improve it. Second, we do not make Parma tires. Parma and TRC are made by the same company. Finally, we are having our wheels redone with new material and some tweaks to the rear mold. I am not aware, however, that there is a problem significant enough to make the tires unrunnable. We have had much race success with these same wheels over the years so while not perfect, they are more than competitive. Dan 09-12-2005, 01:41 PM i won't bash jaco for brittle wheels, if you break one, you hit something. my gripe is that they are consistantly un true. the centers of the rears are ALWAYS too big to register correctly on the truer mandrel, and the wheel hubs. i find it hard to believe that i am the only one that had these issues with them... Same problem with rears. I had to put a small piece of scotch tape on the hubs to take up the slack.. the TRC's I ran, were actually snug. Thought it was strange that when I trued a Jaco, and put it on the hub that it wobbled. Checked axle... re trued tires.. then, noticed how loose they were on the hub. :( Echeconnee 09-12-2005, 02:39 PM I have seen similar problems with the rear tires not fitting on the hub, little wobbly but a great tire and wheel just the same. On the other side of the coin, some wheels are too tight and not every hub out there is the same size. SMROCKET 09-12-2005, 02:47 PM OK First off JACO sold more thires last year than ever before and also won almost every big race last year including most of the snowbirds classes... No onto TOMS Question,,, The wheel is much better than last year and yes you should give them a try ......Lil Pete and his dad have a way to fix the tire issue for you Tom Third is JAco has always been the fastest tires on the market and Jack will continue to supply the best Foam tires on the market.... RPM 09-12-2005, 03:10 PM RPM ... you sure make it sound like you hold the truth buddy ;) I beleive no one shall make such statements as "this is good/this is not" ... I'm sure everyone will appreciate your opinion if you stick to your "likes and dislikes". Steve. team BSR You have to be from BSR tires... You make the best cap tires around and the BSR foam is fine. But I have to say that the cone shape rear rim doesn't work on the tire turer. Sorry buddy!! Wheel'Her 09-12-2005, 03:51 PM RPM your the first person I ever heard complain about that!!!!! Everyone in our area runs BSR and never heard about them not trueing properly Maybe your tire truer is screwed!!!!!!!!! Sorry Buddy!!!! Racin Steve 09-12-2005, 04:21 PM You have to be from BSR tires... You make the best cap tires around and the BSR foam is fine. But I have to say that the cone shape rear rim doesn't work on the tire turer. Sorry buddy!! What tire truer brand do you own, it's the first time I hear this too... Steve. pancartom 09-12-2005, 04:48 PM steve, i know the plastic bag trick. funny, i thought that the plastic bag that the tires came in was just retail packaging, not shim stock to center the wheels!!! i BUY my tires either at the track, or at performance.... and i spend a ton. if i had them given to me, i wouldn't care if they wobbled either. fact is, until the wheels are fixed, i'm out. jack while you are at it, how about doing something with the front wheels so they fit a hudy 1/10th scale arbor. davepull 09-12-2005, 04:52 PM What tire truer brand do you own, it's the first time I hear this too... Steve. RPM is refering to the 12th scale wheels. davepull 09-12-2005, 04:54 PM Davepull JACO does Parma tires. Big Clay are you sure about that????? Sonny B 09-12-2005, 08:20 PM All my BSR 1/12 scale wheels are nice and round. I’ve not heard of any complaints. But if you think you have a problem give John a call. He will make it right. RPM 09-12-2005, 09:07 PM RPM is refering to the 12th scale wheels. Yes.. I should have clarify on that I talking about the 1/12 scale rear cone shaped rims. I have several tire turers from a Maxmod to a new Integy auto turer and both work perfectly. I bought extra arbors thinking that they where out of round and there not!! When you tighten the arbor to the rear wheel it tends to flare out the rim which makes it distort somewhat. Nobody in FOCAR 1/12 scale series runs BSR tires..and I found out why. BigClay 09-12-2005, 09:21 PM Tom I have seen guys reaming out their front wheels to get them to fit their arbor. I loan some brand new tires to a top racer and he ruin a set of fronts by reaming them out wrong. I thought maybe that was what you were doing. Ernie P. 09-12-2005, 10:02 PM The only time I've ever had a problem with Jaco wheels, is when I've stuffed them into a wall. That, I've done a few times; with very predictable results. Somehow, I doubt any wheel would stand up to that kind of abuse. Jaco has been the tire of choice as long as I've been around. The problems being reported haven't surfaced around here; and I haven't seen them reported before. Thanks; Ernie P. Xpressman 09-12-2005, 10:15 PM The only way a JACO wheel will wobble is unless you are reaming out. Davepull JACO does Parma tires. Parma tires are made by GRP the same company that makes TRC tires. You can find this on the back of every Parma tire package. Mayhem 09-12-2005, 11:31 PM Miller what is that giant sucking sound??? You still wont get any tires....:)) Call me you saveauge...To me , the old TRC black rims were BY FAR the best; lots of composite in the plastic, and very round. If you hit the wall hard enough to break a rim with any of these wheels does it really matter at that point? Rumor has it TRC is going back to the black rim....Grab a front tire from all of the manufacturers with the inside facing you and squeeze. Some dont even spring back to shape, you'll have your answer there. RPM 09-13-2005, 07:31 AM Yes.. This is what I found to be the problem... Anyone else?? Echeconnee 09-13-2005, 08:28 AM You want tough, round wheels and good rubber? (This is not an add plug) Try the TM Racing tires. I run them on asphalt in my nitro pan car and I hit lot's of things, lol. I know nothing of carpet or how his tires do there but it's worth a try. RC4Less wheels and tires are also top notch, on asphalt that is, just ask any oval racer in FL. But as far as carpet goes, again I don't know. rickk5 09-13-2005, 02:53 PM T.m. Tire Are Awesome, The Rubber Is Second To None The Wheels Fit On The Axles Perfectly They Are Very True!!!! For My Money They Are The Best On The Market As Far As Foam Tires Go!!!!! And His Wheel Are Super Tough, And Dont Forget The Wheel Discs Just Extra Protection Mayhem 09-13-2005, 06:30 PM I heard a racer at our carpet track praising them this weekend. they looked like the OLD Jaco mold circa 1989. i heard they were very heavy. Any truth to that? WhirlinGraphics 09-13-2005, 07:42 PM Does T.M. have a website? I went through 4 pages of a Google search with no luck. Thanks. rickk5 09-13-2005, 07:56 PM t.m.'s website is www.tm-rc-racingcomponents.com (http://www.tm-rc-racingcomponents.com) give them a look they have great products pancartom 09-13-2005, 08:54 PM i ran tm tires most of last indoor season, and they are heavier. but, the wheels are true, durable, and the foam is consistant. oh yea, they are pretty fast too! Jack Rimer 09-13-2005, 09:06 PM Well, at least there are still a few people who feel our product is not crap. lol. Since we don't pay any oval racers to run our tires, many of the top drivers must have a good reason to choose JACO. They are obviously free to run what they feel is best. scott law 09-13-2005, 09:15 PM Jack, Just goes to show you that the wheel design has stood the test of time. Which is the best test of all. Over ten years and still winning races Lawman Wheel'Her 09-14-2005, 09:27 AM Jaco may not pay there drivers but they give alot of there top drivers free tires which is kinda the same thing isn't it Wheeler Jack Rimer 09-14-2005, 09:48 AM No. I'm sure if one of our top drivers wanted to run another brand they would get free tires too. In fact, I am very stingy compared to other tire companies when it comes to giving out tires for races. (I'm sure this can be verified without brutalizing me too much.) pancartom 09-14-2005, 09:52 AM i really didn't want this to get into a pi$$ing contest, i just wanted to know the status of the new wheels. asked and almost answered....... ovalmaster 09-14-2005, 10:00 AM Corey, support at a national event and paying a salary is not the same thing. Some racers are paid a monthly salary to run some manufactures tires. Once the salary stops so does the use (kinda like a Canadian whore!). Usually, there is a written contract or agreement. As for support, any top driver will only use a tire in which he has full confidence and support. After all, he wants to win races!!! Fees and costs to attend big events can be very overwelming. Like many manufactures, Jack helps out certain racers that he believes have supported and promoted his products by providing a couple of sets of tires. In no way is Jack obliged to do this. I, like many racers, use and will continue to use Jaco products because of the quality of the products and racer support. Jack Rimer has been in the tire business longer than any other tire company. His experience speaks on the track performance of his products and in the way he runs his company. Antonio De Nino Wheel'Her 09-14-2005, 10:26 AM I know where your going Antonio, I was just saying that people do get free things from jaco which is good for the racer and the company. I had nothing bad to say about Jaco just that there are people out there getting sponsored thats all. Jack Rimer 09-14-2005, 10:41 AM Let's all kiss and make up...well maybe shake hands and make up. Wheel'Her 09-14-2005, 11:00 AM LOL alright I'm sure Antonio will want to Kiss Wheeler vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
