I don't have enough cannons to do a 21 gun salute, but 4 will suffice for me.

The metal wheels cannons were made in 1940 and 1941, the rubber wheeled ones from 1958 - 1965. Some of these came with little plastic shells you could shoot as well, In the third pic I show the the mechanism that you pulled back to make them shoot. You won't find that in a toy from today.
