Did I hear that Trackside will not be racing on the oval this season?
No Thanksgiving Leftover? I went last year for the first time and had a great time.

If not, how about somebody else doing it?

Mike,

Yeah you are right no Trackside this year. Even if they did have just that race I sure as heck wouldn't be spending my money there at this point.

Good idea about someone else holding it. Maybe we could even have flyers printed more than 3 days before and actually promote it. Heck we could probably even race past 5 pm if we didn't get hustled out so the road course could be set up.

Maybe Dave J. could look into holding it if the hall is rented by someone that weekend?

For those of use who DO have some very great memories of running oval at Trackside, please do not demean or libel our sentiments. Say somethig nice for a change.

scotty is looking at it from a business perspective.. oval just doesnt make him money.. he is a business owner, and bills need to be paid.. anyway there is still TALK OF HOLDING THE RACE AT TRACKSIDE.. BUT NOTHING IS FOR SURE YET..

I would love to see the race at Trackside. Like the track and everything about it, except maybe the long drive to get there. The Leftover race was the only race that worked good for me.

If it isn't going to be there this year, maybe another track could have a race that weekend. Thanksgiving weekend will be here soon enough and everybody would like to be able to plan early.

Scotty always ran a great show and did a good job with the leftover, but he runs a business. Its too bad that there won't be any racing here this year, but hopefully it will bring everyone together to race at the same track, and bring out some bigger crowds. Dave J I know would love to run it at the the triclone, but said that on that saturday the hall isn't open. Only open that Friday.

I like Scotty and I realize he has a business to run, but when you see him put 2 years into a road course race but not even a half hour into the "big" oval race it doesn't make me feel very wanted there. Last year I felt as though the attitude was he was doing us a favor by letting us run, even when we had 30+ plus showing up early in the season and offroad weeks had maybe 10.

Personally I like going to a place where I hear "thanks for coming" instead of feeling like I'm hassling the kid behind the counter by having him take my entry fee.

I have the building reserved for Fri. Nov.25th for racing.Thats the the best I could do on such short notice, Saturday was already booked. We could have the track ready to go by 9am Friday morning and start racing later in the afternoon that would give everyone plenty of time for practice and there is no set time that we have to be out so we could run atleast 4 qualifiers and
the mains and take our time doing it. Let me know what you guys think and we will start putting it together----Thanks Dave J

Dave,
I think that would be a great idea. Like you said, instead of a 2 day, just leave plenty of time for practice most of friday. Maybe set up some sort of payout? just a thought.

Count me in, I have no problem giving my money to someone else. Maybe if we are real nice Dave will make us a turkey dinner. I've got a better idea how 'bout he opens the track thurs. That way we can blow out of our T-Day dinners early & piss off our wives. JK'n Fried Eggs!!

Where will this race be? Sounds like a good race to attend and being on "shopping" day, I'm interest in making the trip out there. Might try to get a group of racers together from Indiana to make it out there.

Race will be at the Midwest Triclone indoor track in West Bend WI. Track I think is 135ft maybe. 19turn was about 71 laps, stock 65 I think.

You can count 3 from Dubuque in for sure.....and probably more of the Iowa gang too!!

Hopefully this can become a big race, and pick up where it was just left.

Paul schwanbeck speaking, Oval would be making money at Trackside If they put one tenth the effort into it as other classes, I distinctly remember a customer standing in the hobby shop last season looking at an oval car and the punk behind the counter said " oh you dont want to run oval it cost to much money you should buy a truck or sedan" way to promote oval, oh yeah and why your at it dont bother to vaccuum the track or have the concessions open for the oval guys, after all we are just oval
and just have one of the kids or whoever is available announce the races, its just oval the same hardcore guys that have been there for Trackside from the start!
This really pisses me off!

I am in for West Bend. Sure will miss the times we had at Trackside though. The place was packed and all the big names were there. Oh well.

Funn thing is, you dont even see anyone on this thread from Trackside to defend the decision!
When we asked about oval in the last years, at last someone (usually Mr Dibb) would at least get on here and post.
Oh, thats right, he has *another* touring car race he is planning.
As Paul said, if he would have put one tenth of the effort into planning an oval event, he could make a profit.
There used to be a day when we could all get together after Thanksgiving, to have a good times and race a little. Sure, the LHS owner may only break even, or maybe even loose a little cash, but it could have been covere by sedan or truck, just so everyone could be together. But now, its all in the bottom line, how unfortunate.

Dave J. - Any idea if we can create a flyer/advertise this? I will be willing to put some time, effort and even money into helping with it.
