Bob Denver, TV's Gilligan, Dead at 70

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Bob Denver, whose portrayal of goofy first mate Gilligan on the 1960s television show ``Gilligan's Island,'' made him an iconic figure to generations of TV viewers, has died, his agent confirmed Tuesday. He was 70.

Denver, who underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery earlier this year, died at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in North Carolina, according to agent Mike Eisenstadt. Denver's death was first reported by ``Entertainment Tonight.''

As silly as it was, I grew up on reruns of the show and to this day i still love it.
See ya little buddy!!

I was never a fan of Gilligan's Island but I always liked Bob Denver. He was one of those gifted comedic actors who could rise above the lamest of scripts.
I'm really sorry to hear of his passing.

And so we now lose another T.V. Icon to the ages. I my self am not familiar with the characters Maynard G. Krebs or Dusty, but I am more familiar with the characters from Gilligans Island and The Good Guys. So I say Goodbye and Goodnight "Little Buddy" may you entertain those who have gone on befoe.
RIP Bob Denver

Man I'd just bought the "Rescued From Gilligans Island" dvd from the $1.00 Store. Say did anybody see that CBS TV Film IIRC it was Titled "Surviving Gilligan's Island" It was much like the "Return to the Batcave" (Actors Playing the Original Actors) Btw I would love if they'ed do one of these on The Original Star Trek series. Wow who would ya' get for Shatner?

while reading reports of denver's passing (and noting how sad he wasnt given more opportunity to entertain us), i read a quote from russell johnson. that gave me pause, because i remember hearing a report on johnson's passing years ago. i quickly jumped over to the imdb, and was happy to find that johnson is indeed still with us.

The guy was 70 years old and we still think of him as a goofy teenager.
