I have a Craftsman Eager-1 with the 6.25 HP engine. I have always thought it to be a BS but I guess it could be a Tekumseh.
Recently, it has been stalling on a hill, facing down usually and/or lower on the right side. I can get it level and pump the primer and keep it going, but it will die again in a few seconds unless kept level.
Is there a low oil sensor?
I have checked the float and it seems free.
Thanks.

maybe...check the oil to make sure its full..... though it sounds like the float giving problems.

Thanks.
I topped up the oil, took about 1/2 qt.
Dang float still looks okay. Free and all.
Dry spark plug. Pulls through a little harder now. Won't get a start at all today.
I'm charging up the starter battery to see if cranking it will give me any indications.
This problem came on gradual if that helps. I noticed it missing a little a couple weeks ago on the hill. Last week it missed a bit more. This week was a fit. Had to pump the prime every 20 feet or so.
Oh well, guess I can get my son-in-laws mower to finish up.
Thanks again.

well i believe the float on it should be leveled with a 1/8 drill bit.... then if nothing try a carb cleaning....blow all the holes out with cleaner and retry, may've sucked something up.

you topped off a 6.25hp with a half quart of oil?
in that case it barely had any in it
