Has anyone seen A Sound of Thunder? I saw it over the weekend and was disappointed. A terrific premise at the heart, but certainly not executed up to today's standards. I appreciated the ambition, but not the final product.

It's based on a Bradbury short story about time travel. The effects are about what you'd see on a motion simulator ride down at the carnival.

There's a potentially cool kit in the babboonosaurus.

I heard the audio drama of the story, and I could not see a movie made from it. Good story, but not for movie. I have no plans to see it.

I was supposed to do an article about it for CFQ about 20 months ago, back when it was going to come out in spring 2004, but all of a sudden access disappeared. Guess they had some problems with money and reception, I noticed on IMDB that the fx companies credited are people I've never heard of (Zoic and I think R&H or DD were supposed to be on the show, but maybe they never got paid and withheld stuff?)

Box officewise, the movie is looking to be a huge bomb, like on the level of PLUTO NASH (it did something like 250,000 bucks on Friday, not a good start for an 80mil cost flick.) A far cry from what was announced & expected about 5 years back, when Rennie Harlin was going to do it with Pierce Brosnan, but then it became Hyams with whoever wound up acting in it.

It is a good Bradbury story, but geez, the guy has had some terrible luck with adaptations. Ever see that MARTIAN CHRONICLES miniseries? About 10 good minutes out of hours of material. I have a soft spot for Clayton's SOMETHING WICKED (even after they tarted it up with unnecessary fx), but gotta admit that except for the library scene, none of it lives up to the book.

I was visiting my brother in Des Moines this weekend and was surprised the movie wasn't even playing there. Apparently it hasn't even been released in some sections of the country.

I went last night with my friend. We were the only people there

So we took advantage to MSTie it

My opinion is colored because of how much fun we had heckling, putting our feet up, kicking each other's seat backs and calling each other's cells :)

Hey, kid in a candy store, when else can you be a theater asshole and not piss off anyone?

Therefore, while Rotten Tomatos labels it almost as painful as Battlefield Earth, I had a blast, but it wasn't because of the movie

They compared it to Battlefield Earth? It wasn't THAT bad.

The only film that had the same level of ineptitude as Battlefield Earth was The Village.
