Whew............ What happened to "mild" temps? Well we all know weather forecasting is not an exact science, not sure if there's a lot of science in it period sometimes. I think I'm gonna buy one of those good old fashioned red neck weather gauges, you know it's a stick tied to a rope, you hang in a tree. If it's wet it's raining, if it's dry it's not raining, if it's hanging sideways then it's windy, if it's got ice hanging on it then it's cold. Real simple and pretty accurate. LOL

Great day Saturday, 42 entries is outstanding by any measure. Thanks to all our visitors and out of towners. We hope you'll be back and hope our racers made you feel at home.

We'll be saying "Wir werden Sie später sehen" (we will see you later) to Craig Leffew as he goes to Germany for about 8 weeks. It's a free vacation compliments of BMW. (well not really a vacation) Take care of yourself and hurry back.

Good showing in Super Spec. We need to see a few more newbies in order to make the split to the 32 lap group work. Good racing in 1/4 scale, the cars were so closely matched that only one bobble could move you back a position or two. Darrell Winslet got one opportunity to make a pass on Donnie Burnett and when the opportunity arose, he took it. Donnie and Darrell made quite a show of it as the cars were so close no one had any advantage over the other. Pro sportsman was the race of upsets as it was never over until the absolute last second. I looked up and saw the final lap in one heat race and saw who was in front only to have the order reversed as they crossed the line. Very tight and exciting racing. In the touring classes congrats go out to Will Anderson for his first 19T win. I think Will has been racing with us for about 2 years now (give or take a month or two) and perseverance finally paid off. Better look out in Spec TC, some of the young guns are coming on strong. Ben Holder up there leading a share of the laps is not far away from leading the pack across the finish line. Had several cars with 1st place capabilites Sat. It was a definate challenge. Good to have Charles Edsall visting with us again. Charles said he is in NJ for another year, then he's back home to SC and back with us on a regular basis.

NEW TRACK RECORD:
Congrats to Robbie Burgess with his new RECORD 36/4:00xx.x lap run in Super Spec. Breaking his past track record. So now there's a new goal to shoot for. Robbie had a flawless A-main. After struggling in the heat races all day, his car was on rails in the main and he used "the force" to avoid any problems for the entire run. As anyone who has raced here knows, track records don't drop often. It takes a lot of work and a bit of luck to break one.

Project Dracula, "the search for new blood" is now in full swing. The announcement was made Saturday and now it's time to go on the hunt so to speak. Just as we set the trend for SPEC racing in this region we hope to again start something that will create a new explosion in RC oval racing that will spread and respark old flames that have gone dim as well as start a new wild fire in a whole new group of up and coming racers. We will start with the 30 lap group on 10/1 and if enough interest warrants it, we can expand to a 32 group or whatever interest dictates. There will never be a cheaper and simpler way to get into oval racing than this. I'll be working on a flyer that anyone can print and carry with them concerning the class and the Oct. 1st race. The success of this campaign is upon everyone's shoulders. I can not do it alone. Personally, if it wasn't for the fact that I will be calling the race for this class, I would have a car ready in a skinny minute. I've raced just about everything out there but the time in the old breakout classes at Berea were about the most fun I've ever had in RC racing.

Next oval/tc race is Sept. 10th. Mark it down, don't miss it, that is a points makeup race and unofficial warmup race for The Mason Dixon on the 17th.

Be there! And like we always say,"COME SEE WHAT YOU'VE BEEN MISSING!"
