greetings, new here, have a question. i have recently aquired a hydraulic power unit with a honda 9 horse powering it. i want the engine, not the hydraulics. the crankshaft ( 1 in. keyed ) is connected to the pump. my question is how is the pump attached? do y'all suppose it is pressed on? do they press stuff onto a keyed shaft? i don't want to ruin the pump, i have someone interested in it.

I've never had any experience with a hydraulic power unit, but most engines that turn a heavy load like a generator use a tapered crankshaft. In the case of the hydraulic power unit, it's really going to depend on what type of pump it has. If it has a gear type pump, it will probably have some sort of adapter on the end of the crankshaft. If it is a piston pump or a vane pump, it will propbably use a tapered crankshaft. Your best bet is going to be to look around on the internet and see if you can locate a parts breakdown.

the shaft is keyed, i can see enough of it to know that, it wouldn't be keyed AND tapered would it? and do they press stuff onto a keyed shaft?
