Hey. I just got my xxx-t from ebay and i went to plug in the battery and it just went pinned. The car wasn't even on. I figure this is the speed control because it doesn't show any lights that turn on, it is the duratrax intellispeed speed control.

well i think ( and im not an expert by ANY means ) that if ur Radio WASN"T on AT ALL then its just going by its self because its not getting any singnal ALWAYS turn ur Radio on FIRST, if ur Radio WAS "ON" then ur speedo might be fried BUMMER that happened to me cause it got wet

Unhook the wires from the motor and resetup the speed control, chances are its fine.

Some economy speed controls have an "auto setup" circuitry, where they match up to the radio when the speed control is turned on -- if the radio is OFF, they can go "nuts", but as recommended above, turn everything off, turn the radio ON, THEN hook up a battery to the ESC and see if you can reset everything...

Also if its the ebay auction you showed us the other day that is a multi model radio, it could be set to the wrong model too.

I had the radio on, I didn't use the radio that came with, I used the radio that came with my 18t. How would I reset everything? the speed control just doesn't turn on. It's probably fried. I hate ebay sometimes. And yes, it was the same auction I showed you guys.

dumb question but did you trade crystles? And also when u swithced radios was the radio fm that was in it an your radio might be pcm or vise verssa? Just a dumb thing like this might be your problem?

I actually put the crystal from my 18t in the car and used that controller, the truck came with an am receiver on it but also an fm novak receiver so I could use the controller that came with it. but the speed control won't even turn on so I figure that the battery is just going through the wires of the speed cont and straight to the motor. I am just going to send it in to duratrax and get it fixed. I know they will charge me because it is used and obviously the guy did something to make it not work. How much would you guys guess it would cost?

ok. so for some odd reason when I put a different battery in it it turned on just fine...I have no idea why. I didn't change anything, just put a different battery in. but hey, at least it wasn't broken! thanks for all the help guys...

Hey thanks. Well I set the speed control up perfect about 10 times and I still can't get the ABS brakes or reverse to work, so right now it just goes straight and coasts into corners. I am running the reedy mvp motor right now and I like it, it's running pretty consistantly so Im really happy with the truck. the only thing is that reverse and brakes, I think im going to see what my friends at the local hobby shop can do. :dude:
