I was at the fairground last weekend and there will be some improvements to the building this year.

There are new lights in all the fixtures and a new row of lights added right down the middle of the building.

They are also working on the improving the heating system.

Carlos has a few suprises for the racers also!!

It won't be long and we will be running and having fun at Washtenaw.

What kind of surface is it going to be? Loose or hard-packed? It sounds like you guys have a good time over there.

DJ1978

Surface is clay and top soil mix. It packs up hard. We sweep and water to keep the traction up. NOT a blue groove track.

We have kept the track layout to ourselves so far. But I will give you some features to peak your interest....

We have some great jumps and combination jumps planned. To peak your curiosity I will mention a couple of features of the track...

Dual Table Top.... Will you have the nerve to take them both?? The traction?? the line?? Or single-single them? The timing will be right for those who have the nerve to try to take them both.

Progressive doubles.... The 1st one is easy.. then..... will you land and accelerate well enough to take the second one? and then... will you have the nerve to try the third or make it a single single?? Three Progressive doubles.. each one bigger than the last...

Straight away island... will you go over the top?? Or around the sides? Plenty of room for either or. There will be a good line of sight either way. I am anxious to see what people will choose.

Basically... at track build we do the initial layout and then refine as we go. Jump configuration, type and location are all preliminary and we see what fits and how. Usually we end up with what we planned and add some more!!

Our focus with the track design is to make it challenging for low B and upper C main drivers and let the upper B and the A main guys let their set up skill and driving skill determine the winner of the race. There will be a big jump... but no huge sky motocross style jumps that some tracks build. Those are car breakers and not really conducive to good racing.
I personally hate it when poor jump design makes the track the determining factor on who wins a race instead of the drivers skill.

Good flow, COOL air and good racing is what we shoot for with the track design.

I am looking forward to a fun season of racing and see you all there.

On Sunday, The Coleman family will be providing Taco's for dinner. If any one would like to contribute to the pot luck, any additional items would be appreciated. Chips, Pop? Anything else that could be enjoyed by all.
See you all there!!

Dan - it is great to see a track booming with interest like your track up there.

150 people is a great crowd!

I might have to venture up again and race some to get ready for the Midwest Race in January.

BTW - do you guys still carry / make parts for the original tc3-o car? I am eyeballing one and wanted to know if there is support for the older version.

Thanks

got any pictures? Usually during the winter I make a trek up to Monroe, MI to visit some friends. Nothing like combining that with a day at your place. About how far are you from Monroe? I'm guessing around an hour?

Thanks.

Ryan,
I would say it is about 1 hr from Monroe. Up I-275 to I-94 West to Ann Arbor Saline Rd. Turn left and follow the directions on our flyer. Or mapquest it.
Hope to see you there some time!

Over 170 entries and 21 heats of great racing on the 1st points race of the season.

Track held up wonderfully and racing was fast and Close!!

Next race is December 3rd.

Track repair this week in on Tuesday 5pm

We were really please with the condition of the track and how well it held up. We will continue to refine it as the season goes on.

Thanks to Dave for running a great program and for all who helped with track maintenance and transponder hand outs and retrieval.

I would also like to express my appreciation to all the racers who made a sincere effort to be ready to race and to get back out on the track to marshall as soon as possible. All this made for a smooth running race day.

Thanks again to all and see you next Saturday.

Any chance I can get around in the track area and up on the driver stand being in a wheelchair. I would like to come over and run if I can get around. Also how big is the 4 wheel buggie class.About the pits do I need to bring a table. How is the place for power. Thanks Dave.

DJ1978
11-29-2005, 08:19 AM
Dave,
The drivers stand has a wheelchair ramp and platform. You will not have any trouble with moving around in the pits or accessability to the drivers stand.
we had two heats of 4 wheel drive last week. It is an open class. MOST run mod motors.
We do have tables available, but we also have room if you would like to set up a table that is a more appropriate height for you.
Plenty of power. Bring and extension cord.
Hope to see you there!!
Next race is this Saturday. Doors open at 8 am. Racing starts at about 10:30.
If you need help bringing in your stuff just see me.
Thanks

Hi ALL.

Does anyone have any pics of the track layout? Or a link to the layout?

I think the Ol' Evader needs a dusting off.

Dell's old XX4 needs a rebuild.

Later, Hope to see you all on the 17th.

Can some help with a set-up for a t4 in the mod class and b4 in stock. I have not ran at your track before and will be coming over there to run this weekend.
Also are the handout stock motors from the indoor champs ok to run. :)

RcCzarOfOld
12-11-2005, 10:20 PM
Any standard 27 turn stock motor is legal to run including the binary. I'm running the standard setup from the manual on my T4 with 2 foams in front of the batts and 1 behind. Plenty of steering and jumps perfectly. As far as a B4 setup, I can't help ya there.

Here's a pic of the track...

Roy,
Like Tony said, The set up from the manual of your kit is a good starting point for any vehicle. Not sure of the oils in the B4 kits. but 35 in the front and 30 in the rear with the stock pistons and springs is a good start point.
All stock motors are ok with us.

Will!!
Great to hear from you! Hopefully you will come out and join the fun this weekend.

Roy,

Will!!
Great to hear from you! Hopefully you will come out and join the fun this weekend.

Hi Dan! :dude:

I wish I would of seen this earlier! I would of came out and gave a helping hand! Ive been on 11hours 4am start time-so tired, Yeah Im tired!

I went thru Dell's old XX4 and all is well (so far! I never took it apart like that before lol!) and my evader seems to be up for some thrashin'. I may need to buy a motor from someone for the buggy though. I'll check around when I get out there. My P2K2 will have to do for the truck.
I also plan on bringing out a stack of rc magazines to give away for those who will want them. Any tip and tricks in them should help out those less fortunate that cannot buy them month after month or subscribe.

I know and have learned enough from racing with all of you fine folk, Time for me to help out a teeny bit beside the verbal chit chat. Something is better then nothing they say.

Tony! Thanks for the pic man! I appreciate it!

If I dont have to work I'll see you all Saturday.

The Washtenaw Fairgrounds staff has been VERY supportive and has also contributed to the program.
They have revamped the heating system. Adding distrubution fans and changed the location of the fans so the average building temp is way up from what it used to be.
they also added a full row of 10 new flourecent lights. cleaned the old light fixtures and added all new high effeciency bulbs thru they whole building. It is bright and warm.

We also built a new drivers stand this season. it is taller than the old one. Is wheel chair accessible with a wheelchair platform.
