i have been trying to put together a pro 3 and ran into a problem with the rear axle. it appears to be the same thing as my L4 so i thought it would be easy. however, there is no cone and washers for the right side hub. therefore the nut never touches anything and it falls apart. what am i doing wrong?

Thrust washers are a long gone thing of the past. In your axle bag there should be a two step aluminum piece. That goes on and then the nylon lock nut. That part applies the pressure to the inside of the hub bearing and that is it. No thrust washers these days

there is a small two step thing. i put it on and it falls down the middle and lies flush with the top of the hub. looks like something should go on top. there are the two spacers, but i thought those go on the axle. i tried looking for a pic on hyperdrives site but nothing new there in a few years and the hub in the pics isnt like the pro 3's

The 2 step spacer rides against the outer bearing on the hub. From the outside you install the bearing, 2 step spacer (which is the diff-centering cone) then the nut.

i have another question. in the bag with the front end there was a bag containong two silver pieces. they are about 1.5 inches long. about .25" at the bottom then half an inch up become an eigth inch. they have a threaded hole on the thick end and a short threaded screw sticking out of the thin end. i have no idea what these are or where they go.

I would say that would be your steering axles :)

Normally the Associated front end kit comes with a seperate set of instructions that is printed by Associated. Instructions for the assesembly are there. Or you can go to this web page:

http://download.teamassociated.com/pdf/manuals/10l4o_man.pdf

Just follow the instructions for Bag A

Good Luck

You should never use off-set axles on an oval car. Maybe in 1/12 but never for 1/10th on any track.
