WDRA Super Dirt Series to Invade Chico’s R/C Speedway on Sept. 4th.
The WDRA Super Dirt Series will make its second stop at Chico’s R/C Speedway in Lafargeville, NY on Sunday September 4th. The WDRA’s first visit to Chico’s in 2004, was a great success, and 2005 should be even better.
After seven events, 2003 series champ Billy Kimpton sits atop the Big Block Modified point standings, on the strength of one win and 5 top 5 finishes. Pete D’Agnolo with 3 wins sits second with 2004 high point man Matt Olmsted in 3rd. Mike Alivero is now in 4th, with Jim Carr rounding out the top 5.
Over in the Big Block Stock standings, Pennsylvania invader Dale Hartzell is in his own zip code atop the standings, with one win and a huge 37 point lead. Dave Solomon is on track to match his 2004 runner-up finish, as he is currently locked into second place. Despite being among the missing at Fingerlakes, Jeff Winzens hangs onto third, with Dean Anderson in 4th and Charlie Danoski rounding out the top 5.
In the Small Block ranks Dan Danoski dominated the series early on, winning 4 of the first 5 races and then making the move to Big Block. Currently, Lee Morris has assumed the top spot with a string of consistent finishes. With a strong run at Fingerlakes, EJ French has moved into second in the standings, with Jim Decker now finding himself just a few points back in 3rd. Pennsylvania invader Dave Loughead is now up to 4th, with Dan Danoski still in 5th.
The traveling stars of the WDRA Super Dirt Series will face stiff competition, in the form of the Chico’s track regulars. Hot shoes Chico Taylor, Eric Beadle, Erv Miller, Ben Tucker and Dan Gill will lead the local contingent as they battle to defend their home turf.
Gates will open at 10:00am. Sign ups will end at 1:15. The 1st heat will start at 2:00. Personal transponders may be utilized. Chico’s R/C Speedway is located in Lafargeville, NY, not far from I-81. Stay tuned here for more specific directions.
