Anyone have info on how to install capacitors? Brand new to this with my son. We are retrofitting our boat with an EVX marine electronic speed controller that requires three capacitors per motor (two motors) but have no idea about capacitor installation nor can I find any on line with enough detail to assure confidence.

What I think is:
solder each lead of one to each terminal and the other to the can. Then solder the third capacitor across to each terminal. Seems to me the last connection would create a short?!

No because a capacator blocks DC voltage, its not conductive from one lead to the other.
