I was out at a few stores and happened to notice a 'cuda in a matchbox 5-pack of some kind. Does anyone know if this has ever been released on its own?

There are also two New SuperFast Cudas from 2005 from Mix "D"
#4 (MB616) '70 Cuda Hemi, silver in US and purple for ROW
They have just been released recently and have the the old style
Superfast wheels. I hope that this info helps.

Correction to my above post.
The colour of the version released in the US is actually pink.
The listing that I was using for reference states the colour as silver.
I do have the ROW purple coloured version sitting on my desk.
Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse anyone.

Cheers. Cobra

From the very nice "Buger Zone 5-pack. Too bad about the red interior.

Hey, my picture sure gets around. Cool.

Anyway, this model was first released in 2004 as a Superfast exlcusive as #4.

It had originally been tooled up in the latter part of 2003 for exclusive use in 2004 in the Matchbox Collectibles range and not be a part of the 1-75 range. But in early 2004, they decided that flagging sales of Collectibles was enough to cancel the series entirely. It's original plan was to be 5/6 of the 2004 Barrett Jackson series, first in purple, then recolored in blue later in the year. It was also going to be 4/6 in the My Classic Car series in 2004. This one would have been red, followed by a recolor in yellow. All of these 4 releases would have been premiere issues, with high detailing and rubber tires.

With the demise of the Collectibles series, Matchbox came about the new idea of Superfast. A number of models had been tooled up for brand new release exclusively as Collectibles for 2004 (the Cuda, '68 Cougar, '03 Mustang Concept, '69 Camaro, Ford GT. '71 Chevelle). Only the Mustang actually saw release in the series. The Chevelle had reached final preproduction stages.

These models were then included in the new Superfast series instead. Remember, at this point, the 1-75 2004 series was well underway, so a change would not have been acceptable.

It's first release was as silver in the 2004 Superfast series. Then, as the blue (pictured) example in early 2005 as a Burger Zone 5-pack model. Also included in this set is the only other non-Superfast release of the '69 Camaro too. Since then the Cuda has also been released as a 2005 Superfast. Pink for the USA market, and lavender for all other markets outside USA that sell Superfast.

The ROW variation had added tampo printing too, and was sold at the Hershey 2005 show as an exlcusive.
