Yes, you can race your T-Maxx, REVO, JATO, Savage, 1/8th scale buggy... You just have to be a member of ROAR for insurance reasons... This is a very large track and you sure will get the chance to wind out your rig to top speed...
One day event only and the 1st of it's kind in Pittsburgh!

Mike, Do you have my roar card at the shop?

You can race any off road vehicle as long as there are more than 3 i think.

I have a 1/10th scale electric custom works (belly acher chassis) 2wd, 240 tranny, 27 turn stock motor, edm body, with foam tires. Is there a class I could race this in on the 27th?

If so, Could I get some info on becoming a roar member asap?

And also, What type of tires to run there foams or rubber? compounds?

I've had this car for about two years now sitting on my shelf because there is absolutely nowhere in western PA that runs them.

Dinge, I think I have it at my house in my off-road tool bag.. but it may be out-dated.
Paul, about 1/10th Scale Buggies and Trucks... if they are nitro, sure... this is a large oval that will give any 1/10th Scale vehicle a good run. We are trying to stick to 1/8th Scale Buggies, 1/10th Monster Trucks and 1/5 FG Monster trucks... If the class you want to run has more than a few people, we can run it, esp. if you are all ROAR members.
THanks for the post!
Mike

Also forgot to ask about gearing diff/pinion?

I'd imagine it would be extremely high for a track that size. thanks

Dude,
I would think it would be extreamly high. Imagine running on the track at your local high school.. but with dirt... there are a few grooming spots so this is not a perfectly smooth track... but it is good dirt. It will be a challenge I think. Wish I had an 1/8th scale buggy because those would rip!

Red,

Well, not sure how well electrics would run here... It may be a little big and long, but hey, like I said... if there are several cars to make up a class, we will not turn you away. I just do not want you to be disappointed. This track is best for fast nitro cars and even better for the 1/5 and quarter scale cars.
Your car would run best on a dirt track designed for 1/10th and 1/8th... I would not run foams here.

About ROAR, you can download a form from:http://www.steelcityhobbies.com/2005Files/QScaleRace.shtml
Check about 1/2 way down the page for downloads... You can join at the store or on-site, as we should have some forms at both places.

As far as running at other tracks in Western PA, you have 3 choices...
McCullough's in Sarver PA is the largest and most experienced track. You would do terrific there, as there are many electric cars there. They are having a huge charity race in September. Also, HobbyTown has a dirt track, which is in early development stages. SCH is hosting an event there on Sept. 17th so you may want to check our website for that. You can find local tracks on our links page: http://www.steelcityhobbies.com/Links.shtml you should check them out before the winter comes in!
Oh, we are working on a dirt track, but we have our hands full as it is. Keep posted to the site for that as well.

Hope this helps!

Mike

Thanks mike.

This particular car is built by custom works stricktly for 1/10th scale dirt ovals and the chassis literally sits less than 1/2 inch off of the ground.

Looking at naugle speedway I think the chassis might get hung up on the dirt and the wheels would just keep spinning (lol) since the car has such a low center of gravity.

Does hobby town have a dirt oval track? (I've been to mccullough's off road to race my xxx-t, great track).

Red,
Exactly... it may get hung up. If Naugles would not use those "things" on the rollers, it would be a smooth track. That track is designed for cart racing and needs that type of "rolling" to keep the water from forming ruts when it is watered down... that kind of is a pain for the smaller R/C cars...

No, Hobbytown is a "road course" design... but they may make an oval if there was enough response. I know we would! ;)

Thanks mike.
