View Full Version : Trekpulse, in my opinion
Babaganoosh 08-11-2005, 09:25 PM What is it with the contributers to the screencaps section? All they do is concentrate on the action and the personal dynamics and the phaser shots and whatnot. There are hardly any good, clear shots of the ships and sets at all.
If I could find a DECENT DVD screencap program to work with my PC DVD player, I'd do the ships shots myself instead of having to get frustrated to the point of yanking out my hair when I can't find decent, clear and well-balanced shots of the ships as seen in the movies.
Pygar 08-11-2005, 09:41 PM PowerDVD?

GLU Sniffah 08-12-2005, 05:57 AM :thumbsup:PowerDVD.
I believe it can be downloaded for free via downloads.com or other sources.
It will save screencaps as BMP files. You can use Photoshop or other imaging ware to convert to JPEG, edit or whatever.
John P 08-12-2005, 07:45 AM Since no one else has mentioned it - PowerDVD.
Babaganoosh 08-12-2005, 09:56 AM So, PowerDVD?

Lloyd Collins 08-12-2005, 10:52 AM PowerDVD,is the only one I will use! Everytime I buy a PC DVD player, I get a CD of PowerDVD. You do mean screen grab like this:
PhilipMarlowe 08-12-2005, 10:54 AM None of these bozo's know what they're talking about, try PowerDVD instead.
beeblebrox 08-12-2005, 11:22 AM PowerD VD?
AFILMDUDE 08-12-2005, 11:27 AM Sounds like good advice. I've used it myself and it works pretty well. But if that doesn't work you might want to try PowerDVD.
phicks 08-12-2005, 02:13 PM I have actually found Trekpulse to be quite a good source of photos of the ships for the Trek movies. Are you complaining about their coverage of one of the TV shows specifically?
Although I have no personal experience with it, I've heard that PowerDVD might be of use to you.
Capt. Krik 08-12-2005, 02:21 PM How come no one mentioned PowerDVD? I use it all the time. Great program for doing screen caps off your DVD's
I'm stunned no one has brought up this program! ;)
GLU Sniffah 08-12-2005, 03:29 PM  Get the latest release of PowerDVD. If no one told ya about it already.
Just Plain Al 08-12-2005, 03:45 PM I think I'd give PowerDVD a shot, couldn't hurt.
Babaganoosh 08-12-2005, 10:30 PM I still don't know what the hell you apes are trying to tell me!
In response to a question:
I try to look up reference pics of ships from all of the media they have, be it TV or movies. They do have a good selection of screen grabs from a certain DVD where this woman is showing you around the warehouse with a spacedock here, a starship there.
But people who contribute post viz f/x like phaser fire or some reaction shots. Nothing having to do with "the making of" or clear pics of the reliant under construction in the Special Edition of ST:II. I just watched disk 2 last night and there are some really clear shots of some of the detail put into the ships and whatever.
beeblebrox 08-13-2005, 02:00 AM This may not have what you're looking for, but it has a lot of pics from STWOK. http://trek5.com/caps/films/02_khan/index.html
Wish they had thumbs.
Oh, and I've heard PowerDVD is pretty good.
Jim NCC1701A 08-17-2005, 08:16 AM Just to throw a monkey in the wrench, anyone able to recommend a screencap prog for the Mac? PowerDVDX perhaps?
sbaxter 08-17-2005, 10:50 AM Just to throw a monkey in the wrench, anyone able to recommend a screencap prog for the Mac?There is Snapz Pro, which is shareware from Ambrosia software; FreeSnap, freeware with great reviews -- but I've not used it and I'm not sure whether it will capture images from DVDs. I have used Capture Me, which is freeware and does capture DVD images.

Lou Dalmaso 08-17-2005, 12:14 PM Hey, What about PowerDVD?
justinleighty 08-17-2005, 01:04 PM I don't know what would work on a Mac, but I've heard from somewhere that PowerDVD works well for PCs. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it.
