View Full Version : 1:18 - AutoART vs. The Rest
mustang_stevie 08-11-2005, 12:42 PM Anyone into 1:18? I've been looking at some online, and I've noticed that the median price for 1:18 models is around $25 or so. However, the AutoART models typically run closer to $60.
Has anyone compared them against Ertl or Maisto or JL? Are the AutoART models that much more detailed? Is it worth the extra dough?
omega_republik 08-11-2005, 12:51 PM if you think AutoART is pricy, wait until you check out GMP diecast or EXOTO :D
mustang_stevie 08-11-2005, 12:51 PM Why did this get moved to Ertl? It's a comparison against other brands.
Castle 08-11-2005, 01:54 PM Autoart was worth the price when they were retailing for $45. Now that they raised their price to $80 I'll be sticking with Maisto, Ertl, and Jada.
Bugzy 08-11-2005, 06:40 PM Hi mustang stevie...!
...not sure how much better quality the AUTOart 1:18 scale cars are over the ERTL or Maisto..etc..don't own any...but maybe like me you are looking to buy the newest AUTOart 1:18 2005 windveil blue Mustang..? it looks like a real beauty..
..I'm tempted..and saving for one..most of my cars are ERTL ..Hwy61 or Lane..HWY61 has always produced a high quality car IMO..it's a favorite of mine..prices are usually good ...between $35. to $60. have a preorder on a new 70 Boss from HWY61..looking forward to comparing it to the Cudas I have..
..O...and maybe your post was moved since it is about 1:18 scale..?
mustang_stevie 08-11-2005, 09:11 PM Bugzy, you got it! There are several 1:18 '05 Stangs out there, and I've narrowed it down to Hot Wheels or AutoART. I haven't been able to find either of these at local stores to compare. One website, www.idcow.com, has several angles on each. The Hot Wheels looks pretty good really, and for $30! Meanwhile the AutoART runs $65-80!
Dead Dude 08-12-2005, 01:27 AM Lots of cars run around the 50-60 dollar range. Franklin Mint is actually launching a 1:18 line at a 60 something price point soon.
The Hot Wheels cars are a mixed bag, I think. I'll just continue to buy what I like when I can afford it.
realmz1 08-12-2005, 04:13 PM IMO only...you really should NEVER compare maisto,hw's,jl in a class with auto art...there is no comparision for quality! Auto Art BLOWS away all those manufactures and yes you will PAY for that quaility, but I would rather have ANY Auto Art than a crappy CHEAP cost,CHEAP quality manufactured car. But that is MY OPINION...

Thanks, your opinon actually helps me greatly. I'm unlucky in that there are very few hobby shops in my area, so I can't compare easily. I'm more than willing to pay for quality, my post was to try and figure out if the difference was worth paying for.
But you don't work for AutoART do you? :)
realmz1 08-13-2005, 01:20 AM I SHOULD with ALL the Auto Arts showcased here at home
TheDarkCutlass 08-14-2005, 12:08 AM one thing i want is a Lane Exact Detail 1:18, i would like just 1 since they run around $100, but from the pictures i have seen, about the most accurate model there is (Although i just looked at some of the AutoART pictures and they are highly detailed)
