Lots of people call these Crackerjack Prizes, which they may have been. They are anywhere from 1 1/2" to 2" long each. There were 23 different pieces to the series, I only have a few of them. Most people think of them as Monopoly pieces as well, which some were used for that

I have a couple of cars from the Midget Series, the delivery van and the desoto airflow sedan. When I got them they were individually in their own small cardboard box. I do not think they originally came in these boxes from the cracker jack box. Do you know how they were packaged in the cracker jack box?

I'm not sure how they were packaged in a Crackjacks box, you'd have to talk to a CrackerJacks collector for that. As for in stores these either came as sets in a cardboard box, or you could buy them in bulk. I've seen a gross of planes for sale on ebay before. Not sure what you'd do with that many though.
