I'll barge in here with a question...

Assuming one was willing to give SciFiMet the benefit of the doubt on actually recieving it... which is a better kit... the Lunar Models 2 foot (almost a hundred dollars cheaper) or the new SciFiMet kit?

i have the L.M. 24 inch, and although the hulls are strong there was some hull alignment issues and some very poor resin pieces and that model cost $225

The SciFiMet Kit is a closer representation of the SPFX model. The added door detail is all that was NOT on the original SPFX model. If I were to trust them I'd have ordered 2 of 'em.

I wanna see SciFiMet do the promised 4 foot version!

So I should get an order in to SciFiMEt I guess...

Thanks!

Another cool model for the stack of unbuiltI'llgettothemsomedaykits!

mark, has anyone else recieved their order yet ? I am waiting to hear how the assembly goes and just how strong the kit itself is especially the landing gear. I am thinking of cracking mine open ( i glued the hulls with a product called goop) I need to fix some things inside

From your "Lunar Models 2 foot Jupiter 2 Photos" thread, I asked about how your pad doors and gear legs are activated. From the looks of the machinery, I bet your model puts on quite an impressive show.

I use a Futaba 4 channel radio(airplane style) and use the Aileron channel for the sliding doors, and the throttle channel for the up/down for the legs.

Thanks for the pix, Bert. Looks like you did a super job on all your J2's.

I've been designing and building a couple of cardstock J2's; one with the simplified lines of the full-sized mock-up, and the other with correct contours. I'll make photos and drawings available as I can.

Y3a,
Thanks again for the follow-up response. A radio-controlled Jupiter 2 has got to be the ultimate! Sounds like it would be lots of fun to make photos and videos of.

How did you correct the position of the landing gear bays? Did you rescribe a new viewport?

i cut out the lower viewport before noticing the rear leg was not pointing in the right direction and then it was to late. the leg wells are right where lunar models put them it was to late to do anything after i cut everything out.
