View Full Version : should i open it ???
omega_republik 08-03-2005, 01:36 PM http://users.adelphia.net/%7Eomega_republik/pages/black_chrome.jpg
found this one along with the merc .... very hesitant about opening it .... i probably will not
2003GAGT 08-03-2005, 05:48 PM I wouldnt being limited like they are. Where did you find it and how much? Ive seen them on ebay today starting at $39.99.
omega_republik 08-03-2005, 06:02 PM yeah ... saw them too for 39.99 $ + 10.00 S&H ... :drunk: which is almost what i paid ....
collectablediecast.com (http://www.collectablediecast.com/) has them ....
2003GAGT 08-03-2005, 10:56 PM Its nice though, stock looking rims. So you got it at collectablediecast.com? Just trying to see if stores are going to carry it at all, which i doubt.
omega_republik 08-03-2005, 11:54 PM i asked all the "possible" retailers around my area and not a single one knew about this item ... :o so my only choice was online
Superbird77 08-04-2005, 07:07 AM OPEN IT...put it on a nice background...take your camera...do some close-up shots from all angles...open the doors, hood, trunk...take some pictures again...upload your pictures...go to HobbyTalk...post some pictures in a "should i open it ???" thread...put it back in a box...
It's easy as that. :D
omega_republik 08-04-2005, 11:09 AM :D see, i would do that but im stuck in the "thread" part ..... that tape may lessen the car's value and i dont really think i want that ... altho im quite anxious about rolling it across my desk and opening all movable parts ..... but seeing the tape ...... is like committing murder of a loved one but inheriting tons of money
Superbird77 08-04-2005, 12:32 PM I know, I know...but I'm telling you, don't worry about a value of this car, you are not going to sell it anyway. And if you open it, you will sleep better, because you've done a good job, and showed the audience of HobbyTalk some beautiful pictures. Now, if that isn't worth something... :D
omega_republik 08-04-2005, 12:35 PM well, if you put it like that , theres deffenitely no argument about .... open shall it be .... (stay tunned for some pictures) and thanks for the suggestion
Superbird77 08-04-2005, 12:44 PM No problem mister...And I'll charge you only $99.95 for a professional advice.
Now....we want to see some pictures!
Porsche911GT3 08-04-2005, 01:05 PM Wow! I'm usually not into these cars, but that one looks GREAT! Those wheels look nice!
plankowner 08-04-2005, 01:06 PM Open It Already!!!!!
plankowner 08-04-2005, 01:09 PM Seriously though, do what feels best to you. We all know the argument of should I open it or not but in the end, it is up to the individual. Yes, I do open 99% of what I buy. But that's my choice. And for every car I bought and said to myself, "This one stays in the box," I ended up opening anyway and felt great doing so. It's all up to you!
Roy Nakamura 08-05-2005, 06:54 AM Okay...OKAY! I know that this Black Chrome 1:18 1968 Camaro has been over posted...but I just got mine today and IMHO this has got to be one of Jada's best products to date.
No...not because it's a Camaro...believe me...I'm a First Gen Camaro enthusiast and I can be very critical of 1967-69 Camaro toy replicas. This Black Chrome Camaro IS over the top!

The motor appears to be a period correct small block…with rather great detail. I’m not too sure about the turbo, it appears to be sitting where the none existent battery should be and not attached to anything …but…it’s sure is purdy. Even has a nicely detailed A/C compressor has hoses.

The oversized Rally wheels and tires that brought displeasure in an earlier post for some collectors are incredibly detailed and as a bowtie guy…these thing ROCK! The Chrome finish is flawless and the tampoed emblems are perfect. No bling, no monitors, no oversized NOS bottles…just a very VERY well executed 1968 Camaro 1:18 replica.

Did I already say this thing was well executed?

omega_republik: Now...that doesn't mean that you don't have to open yours...

I am new at this die cast game. The question has been my number one since I got my first one at Target a few weeks ago. SHOULD I OPEN THEM. I got that Camaro off ebay and decided I would keep it in the box. That lasted 20 min. I am not gonna sell these any time soon and for me to keep these in their boxes is a sin. I am so glad I opened mine. If I wanted to make money from selling them I would have bought them all. But its for me and opening it made me smile.
