Echeconnee 08-01-2005, 12:05 PM What motors can we run, do they all have to be purple? Is there anyone running brushless down your way? What about Nitro? We plan on making it this year for sure. What tires have y'all been running?
amusicwiz 08-02-2005, 02:23 PM Cliff: Would love to have you guys down! Motors for 19-Turn and Stock Classes will be handouts (Bullit for 19-Turn and Fantom (P2K2) Stocks). We have been running handout tires also (BSR caps). Those details will be included in entry form. Would love to have some Nitro cars run. Right now the only Nitro class running regularly on the oval is a Hybrid class where they are running 1/10th scale chassis with a 1/8th scale modified body. Would love to have some of you serious Nitro guys run it again. Two years ago the guys had a good time.
Echeconnee 08-02-2005, 03:27 PM I would hope the hand out tire rule would not be the same for the nitro cars. Other than that, it sounds great. I love the p2k2 motors (torque monsters)
Fl Flash 08-02-2005, 10:38 PM I,ll be there Bob :) Justin and I had a blast last year!! Hmm 19 turn Nastruck.... did you see that Cliff? Kevin? Rod?
amusicwiz 08-02-2005, 11:29 PM Cliff: Yes, we will make nitro tires available at the track but no handout tires for Nitro.
We are having a ball running the trucks...just a bit slower than the cars but a blast 4-5 of running every week right now.
Let's all get down to Fort Lauderdale
Ginsu 08-03-2005, 12:18 AM Hey I live right across the alley. Is there a web site with directions and the days the track is open? I would love to come over and get some practice in.....thanks
amusicwiz 08-04-2005, 08:29 PM Ginsu: You can get most of the info from ontrack-racing.com
We race every saturday night at 5:00 (Track is usually open by noon for practice) Track is also open Mon & Wed nights 6-10pm)

Where is the track located??
Is it at Mills pond park, Florida??
amusicwiz 08-31-2005, 12:16 AM Track is located in Mills Pond Park, just of Interstate 95. Between Oakland Park Blvd & Sunrise. Use Oakland Park Blvd (EAST) exit. Go south on Powerline Road. The park entrance is Powerline Road. The track is in the far Southwest corner of the park.

We have four guys from Naples who wants to run brushless class at this race.
We NEED 6 guys to have a brushless class for this race.
DOES ANYONE WANT TO RACE BRUSHLESS 1/10th SCALE????
Fl Flash 09-01-2005, 10:06 PM Yes!..............I,m planing on running stock and Brushless would be great for my second class :) what system are yall running?
amusicwiz 09-02-2005, 10:05 AM If you have at least 6, I am more than happy to add a brushless class. Let's coordinate it so everyone is on the same playing field though. The more the merrier.
Bob
Ginsu 09-02-2005, 05:44 PM Hey Bob,
I know of three of us from Naples that are ready to run brushless and will make the trip East if we can get something together. It should not be a big obstable to get three more brushless guys............
Yes!..............I,m planing on running stock and Brushless would be great for my second class :) what system are yall running?
Novak ss5800 system
amusicwiz 09-09-2005, 03:23 PM Entries are coming in daily! Looks like we'll have a nice group of racers for this year's event. Sponsors have been contacted to help with various forms of support! We have had lots of support. See our website for those who've been there to help!
At this ppoint it appears we will be utilizing RC Scoring Pro to score and control the event. More on that later!
Ginsu 09-09-2005, 08:31 PM Anyone sign up for brushless yet and if so what system?

We have four guys running Novak 5800 brushless motor systems so far.
Anyone else feel the need for speed???
mld469 09-15-2005, 08:38 AM Bob:
You'll run more than one nitro class if you have enough right? Nitro pan cars, Nitro-late models too?
amusicwiz 09-15-2005, 06:35 PM MLD: You betcha! Adding classes is a snap. Just want enough (6) entries to justify the planning time and commitment to trophies!
amusicwiz 09-15-2005, 06:37 PM Well we just got the software RC SCORING PRO! We're playing with it and the entire event will be run using this exceptional new program. If you don't know what Doug Hay has created, visit the website and view the features.
amusicwiz 09-25-2005, 11:09 AM The plan is for four (4) QUALIFIERS IN ALL CLASSES and TRIPLE A-MAINS.
There'll be plenty of track time for everyone to get it together!
Should be a great event. Can't wait to see how the "brushless" setups work! Maybe we'll get some local guys to consider "brushless!"
Come one, come all!
Bob
Echeconnee 09-25-2005, 08:18 PM Just looked @ the entry form, 3300's only. Wish I still had some.
amusicwiz 09-25-2005, 09:33 PM Cliff: Plenty of super 3300s down here. You come on down and I'll make sure you have some great batteries!
Bob
mjabbott 09-26-2005, 08:02 PM Hey! It's great to hear from more Oval drivers in Florida... We used to drive across the Alley a few years back to that kinked-up oval in Naples!! That was a great track, we always had a good time there. I think I still have some bugs in my pit box drawers from a Saturday night race there! Glad to see you guys are still racing oval! Look forward to seeing y'all.. You should consider coming over for a Saturday night race sometime!!
Now if we can get Tin Man, Scarecrow and the old Thunder Gang to make the trip down!!
THANKS BOB!!!
Echeconnee 09-26-2005, 08:15 PM If Andy and I make it we would be running 5800's. I am debating whether I want to buy new dinasoar batteries or not. Yes!..............I,m planing on running stock and Brushless would be great for my second class :) what system are yall running?
amusicwiz 10-07-2005, 02:59 PM Two-weeks until race day! The track has been cleaned and minor hurricane damage repaired. Thanks to Rick Curtis for his help in repainting the outside walls and replacing the catch fencing. The track is in A-1 shape. Gonna be a record setting weekend!
COme on down!
mjabbott 10-10-2005, 11:45 PM M-Man... Track looked great this weekend, you and Rick did an awesome job getting things ready for the race weekend!
You know, I was running one of the Bulit motors from last year this past Saturday night, they are still the fastest motors in my box... Have you heard from Bulit Bill? Hopefully he faired well in the recent storms and will be joining us! He's a class act and a great racer...
amusicwiz 10-11-2005, 08:46 PM Mark: Have chatted will Bulit Bill. He came through the storms okay. His work life has been distrupted so he is spending week days on the road and is only home on the weekends. Wish he could make it down to race with us again.
Looking forward to having everyone there. Hope the brushless guys can make it. Will be neat to have them race with us for the first time.
Bob
amusicwiz 10-18-2005, 08:48 AM The race is scheduled for this weekend. We are currently watching the progress and path of TS Wilma. We will make a decision on Thursday (20th) regarding a weather delay. We all know how indecisive these storms can be. We'll watch it closely and move it to 29th & 30th if it becomes necessary. Stay tuned! We'll keep everyone posted!
amusicwiz 10-19-2005, 07:48 AM Yea, told ya to stay tuned! Wilma is now a Catagory 5 storm. Looks more likely it is coming our way.....but we're gonna make the call tomorrow on a weather delay. By that point we'll know better the probability of landfall.
amusicwiz 10-20-2005, 03:43 PM Based on the current path of Hurricane Wilma, due to create a significant rain event for Saturday and a wind&rain event for Sunday, we have cancelled the racing for this weekend. We had hoped to re-schedule for next weekend (20th & 30th) but that won't work for all kinds of reasons. The race is now re-scheduled for November 5th & 6th.
mjabbott 10-20-2005, 05:50 PM That's a shame Bob, I know there were a lot of people looking forward to this weekend. BUT, we can't control nature and our friends from Naples should start feeling the effects of the storm by Saturday... I just hope the new date works for everyone that was planning to race. I'll be there!!
amusicwiz 10-20-2005, 11:35 PM Mark: Thanks for the feedback! Believe most will be able to be there. You can't fool with Mother Nature!
apk power 10-20-2005, 11:59 PM November 5th and 6th would not be a good make up date because that is the same weekend of the last Florida oval state race at Superior Hobbies in Orlando
amusicwiz 10-21-2005, 01:54 PM apk power: Wish that were a problem! The fact is that our event has not drawn any of the state series racers in the past. Based on pre-registrations none of those racers planned to be a part of our 2005 event.
November 5 & 6 is the date for our resechduled event.
mld469 10-21-2005, 03:26 PM Bob,
I so admire your tenacity trying to get this thing going. We'll be there, when ever you hold it. I know you've made a significant commitment of time and money to put this race on, and we'll support you, no matter what Mother Nature does to us in the mean time.
mld469

I will not be able to make the race. :(
Nov 5th-6th is the last FOCAR race / award ceremony.
Any other weekend would be great for me and Team Naples. :dude:
amusicwiz 10-21-2005, 10:50 PM RPM...thanks for letting me know. Re-scheduling due to the storm was a real challenge. Couldn't make it work for everyone no matter what we did. Did the best we could to accomodate as many of the confirmed attendees as possible.

I know it hard trying to please eveyone.
Too bad you can't schedule the race in middle or late Nov. when the weather is cooler and nice!
mjabbott 10-22-2005, 10:38 AM Shame we can't get RPM there... But 11/4-5 is the date, luckily I can be there... Maybe next year we could set something for early November, I do like the cooler weather and deeper into the Hurricane Season...
See ya there...
amusicwiz 10-22-2005, 07:34 PM RPM & Mark: You're both right that weather can be cooler in mid-November. Problem is there is higher rain probaility in November than in October. First year we ran Halloween weekend. The Farmers Almanac indicated that over a 15 year period only 1/4 inch of rain had fallen on that weekend. Indeed we had no rain ....but had 30-35 mph winds the entire weekend.
Before we set a date for next year we will look at all the issues. What we want is to get more folks to come and race on this incredible high-banked oval track.
For now really looking forward to having the best race we can for 2005!
Bob
amusicwiz 10-28-2005, 07:35 AM Wilma caused a little damage at the track. One light/power pole down. Some fence damage and since the lake is so high, the oval is not draining. (Wanna race some boats...hehehe)
The race will now be held November 12th & 13th.
(This will avoid conflict with the focars final weekend as well)
Thanks to everyone for their patience...and to Wilma for sparing us from catastrophic damage!
Bob
amusicwiz 11-02-2005, 01:28 PM The Oval repair is now complete. The light pole was rrmoved and cut up into small logs. The wall and track baseboard are back in place. The track control score-board is back up.
The fence around the facility still needs to be re-hung. The park and surrounding neighborhoods still have no power.
The soccer fields are completely covered with debris. Including a 50 foot high pile of vegetation that is being ground into mulch. Has to be 100 trucks an hour coming into the park to drop off debris. It is an awesome sight! It will be a long time before the park is back to its normal state as a city park.
More to come!
Bob
amusicwiz 11-03-2005, 01:24 PM The 2005 U.S. Concrete Oval R/C Championships is cancelled. Just received word from the park manager at Mills Pond Park that the park will not re-open until late Spring or Summer 2006.
Wilma has left her mark on South FLorida for sure!
