Hello All,
I have a problem with a 6HP craftsman mower.
It will start but it doesnt rev up. It will if you open the throttle by hand.
All of the linkage seems to be intact. The cable connecting the safety handle
is broken so it is just bypassed. Will this have any effect?
Any input would be appreciated.

well, the handle for cutting it off wouldn't, unless you did something wrong underneath...does it have a throttle control? up on the handle...

No throttle control. the linkage goes from the carb, around the engine and connects
to an arm on the back. It (the arm) won't move freely. Is it supposed to?

the arm on the back....sounds like the governor, it should be one of those pre set speed types. if it only runs slow (supposed to run full throttle all the time?) recheck it over and make sure its all there. either a piece of the linkage is missing, or a spring.
