View Full Version : Night Stalker Release Date DR. PRETORIOUS 07-28-2005, 02:22 PM http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=3778 Lloyd Collins 07-28-2005, 09:29 PM I'm not surprised, since a new/remake series is coming to TV this fall. When a new version comes out, the old is released. The original is a classic. I never missed an episode, when it was a new series. This is good news. PerfesserCoffee 07-29-2005, 12:37 PM Great news! Even though some of the monsters got hokey at times, no one can beat the Darren McGavin style of sarcasm and earnestness. Carson Dyle 07-29-2005, 02:49 PM Found the following on SciFi wire... The late Darren McGavin, who stared as Karl Kolchak in the 1970s Night Stalker made-for-television movies, was digitally inserted into the season premiere of the updated version, which airs on ABC this fall. Executive producer Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files) told SCI FI Wire that the posthumous cameo was his tribute to the original character. "I was intent on doing it," Spotnitz said in an interview at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif. "It was not cheap to do, but it was very important to me to do that because I loved him. And I got to meet him doing The X-Files, because I cast him in that. And I loved the show so much, I just felt like you needed that respect to him in the pilot. So we went and we looked at every shot at him in the original Night Stalker movie. And we looked for shots that were lit and could be framed properly to insert into the newsroom, and got the negative out of a vault and digitized it and put it in there." McGavin's appearance isn't the only reference to the original that can be seen in the pilot of the new series, according to Spotnitz. "You'll see some other little nods to Darren McGavin in the pilot," he said in a panel session. "I don't want to give them all away, but there is a straw hat somewhere in there." chiangkaishecky 07-29-2005, 04:25 PM The late Darren McGavin, ... WTF???? Carson Dyle 07-29-2005, 04:38 PM Found the following on SciFi wire: "The late Darren McGavin..." This sort of oversight bodes ill for the new series. :freak: Zombie_61 07-29-2005, 05:00 PM The late Darren McGavin...Funny, I'd always heard he was rather punctual... spyhunter50 08-01-2005, 12:31 PM i watched the some of the old Night Stalker ..... and there a remake of it ? i hope so.... vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
