Dadvball 07-26-2005, 09:24 PM Looks good so far! The old CJ's have always been my first love, but a Bronco was a very close 2nd. Looking foward to seeing it finished.
YellowBronc 07-26-2005, 09:28 PM I do like the old CJ's, but Ive only owned broncos as long as Ive been driving, a whopping 7 years now, lol. Heres a pic of the roll cage as I built it in the truck before I pulled it and painted it. It was actually easier than I thought to build
Porsche911GT3 07-26-2005, 11:15 PM Lookin Good! Nice cage work!
YellowBronc 07-27-2005, 12:26 AM Thanks for the tips you gave me Porsche
dipstick 07-27-2005, 05:49 PM Give her a mean stance and she will be beautiful!!
YellowBronc 07-27-2005, 07:52 PM Ok, Im through with this one. Not too happy with the finished product, I dont like the ride height, which I can really chance now with the way the chasis is altered. I decided to stop on this one where it is. Im gonna start another tonight and switch some things up.
dipstick 07-27-2005, 08:43 PM I don't like her either - send her to me so I can throw her away :)
Porsche911GT3 07-27-2005, 10:39 PM Bronc, are you going for the detailed undercarriage look?
If not, just make it simple. I took some empty pen ink cartridges, cut to the axle length I desired, and slipped the wheels in. Then I used some scrap rubber from the tires on a plastic model kit to set the desired ride height. Then just JB welded it all together using the stock base. It doesn't look the greatest underneath, but from the side you'd never know the difference. Crude, but it worked.
And I think that ride height looks darn good! What don't you like? Get those tires I told you about off that ATV. They look nicer (more mud-boggerish, lol), IMO.
Here's one that I did for my bro that I wasn't happy with the ride height. My first off-road custom.
I was going for that realistic suspension, but it just didn't work out and the H2 was left sky-high. :freak:

Bugzy 07-27-2005, 10:57 PM Looking good ..! smooth rugged appearance overall.
...would use a larger tire size..
....by the way...what did you use..? any particular aftermarket ones..
YellowBronc 07-27-2005, 11:52 PM Porsche, After staring at it for a while, the only thing I dont really like about it is the tires. I think with the full cage like that that they should be a little bigger and look a little more agressive. However, with the way I alter the chasis, once its changed, its changed and theres no real way to add back height without it being really obvious. The more I look at, the more its growing on me, but I think different tires would have made it look alot better. Im tossing around ideas for the new one Im working on. I did pick up one of those ATV's to mess around with. The only thing about that is that the axles are larger, so Ill need to figure out a way to attach them. I really like the pics of the suspension on the H2. I think that should lead to some ideas to try out. I need to find a good source for these Toyzone baja trucks, I bought out my walmart and havent seen the baja stuff at any others so far. This next will definitely be on bigger tires.
YellowBronc 07-27-2005, 11:54 PM Bugzy, I agree completely on the larger tires. Im using tires from the toyzone trucks that you can grab at wallyworld and maybe a few others. Porsche built a nice looking one using some tires off of one of the ATV's they make. Mostly when I see them all thats there are the ATVs and dirtbikes.
Pewter02WS6 07-28-2005, 10:38 AM YelloBronc, what did you use to build the cage?
Porsche, what brand atv did those tires come from?
thanks,chris

Chris, I built the cage out of paperclips. Those atv tires we are talking about, the ones on the H2, are off of atvs by NewRay and Toyzone also makes some, the only difference being with the wheel design. Theay are like $1.67 a piece at WM.
Porsche911GT3 07-28-2005, 01:04 PM Bronc, those ATV wheels are long and they can be easily shortened. Just carefully slip one wheel off (or you could break the plastic wheel) and take some wire cutters and cut to length. I glued mine back on using JB Weld.
