I have a monster stock that i need a good general setup for on a 395ft oval track with optimum RPMs, and also a good setup for MSA in Crossville
It dynoed on a Fantom Dyno as 22352 Rpm, 67W power and 49 percent effeciency. This was with red neg green pos Killer F on both with Bulit Comm drops. This will go in a 700 EASE

competionpark,
if your looking for a motor that pulls alot of rpms you might wanna try a epic roar stock. correct me if i am wrong but i think it pulls just a bit more rpm's that a monster.
just my thought though.

Jake's right, from my tests the EPIC ROAR stock is about 800-1500 more RPM in the 18-26 amp range than a trypical Monster motor. If I ran cap tracks I wouldn't run anything else than an Epic ROAR stock. There is less rolling resistence than carpet, so losing the torque of the Monster shouldn't be a big factor.

Actually i desagree.. The epic stock on our 365 bank track, is not as consistent as our monsters.. we have one or two guys who have been fast with the eipc, but everyone else is as fast or better with the monster based motors..

I have personally found, unles your car is super efficient, the epic stock falls off harder,, The monster keeps the power up more consistently through out the whole run..Your best bet is to run what you have, then see what the local guys are running.. if there fast with the epic go with that.. I would say the same for rollout.. see what they run...

Burbs,
I was a doubt-er too of the EPIC, matter of fact I used to give Salvas grief on here cause he was a big fan of the EPIC and I was a fan of the Monster. He convinced me to keep trying it and find that sweetspot rollout, once I did, I have been faster at every track (flat or banked track) I have been to with the EPIC over the Monster.
I would assume if it works on carpet it has to work on large concrete cap tire tracks.

you are right your car has to be good for it to work, otherwise the Monster are a bit more forgiving. But if your stuff is on I still say the EPIC should be quicker.
RPM is still king in my books, anytime I can get more RPM Without the sacrifice of power I will take it.

The ultimate is when you can get a Monster to produce as many RPM's as a good EPIC stock, those are really rocket motors, problem is I have only had about 2 of those in the past 4 years out of about 25 of them.

Have you tried going down on the R/O about .1 or so? If a motor is falling off that hard the gearing is too high. But how much speed will be lost with that little of change to the R/O? Bottomline is, if its fast for you then run it.

i understand what your saying and it makes perfect sense to me. its just that i am one of those people that is willing to give something a try if it might me any faster and sometimes you gotta try something. if you can hit the sweet roll out for epic motor then heck! you found something that can be real fast and good for you. but i also agree that car setup also has alot to do with how a car runs in stock class. so you gotta find a good balance of both. but once again thats just my thought on it all.

After re-reading the question, What did the motor dyno without the comm drops? That will tell a better story I believe.
