trinity 4383's , 2 reds....... or a purple on the + and a red on the -. Opinion on where to set the timing varies ...... I've run well with full timing and with it turned down. But to start out turn it all the way up and start around a 2.25 rollout.......should get ya a good start.

I have found that also to be true.

Is there any other brush combo to try that will work good.
I was look at the Trinity XXX grey looking brushes.
Has anyone tried them in a 19 turn motor???

Putnam's "X" compound, and a pair of red springs. I've had a slot in the positive with good results too.
24 degrees seems to work best if you can put enough gear to it.

On the dyno this past year, the XXX's set the record on my buddies dyno.
And he tried about every reputable brush on the market (Old Orions, Putnam X's, 4383, Reedy Plutoniums, Matrix, etc)

Erock: Fantom dyno I presume? John Hauenstein tried the XXX brushes in his 19 turn here and was 2-3 laps off what he runs with our X brush (130' track). The XXX brushes lasted many runs, which is great to eliminate the brush varaible when your trying to dial your car in, but don't seem to have the performance on the track.
I can tell you that the XXX brush didn't win the Snowbirds this year, either...

Hope this helps...

Negative, Robitronic Dyno

One comment my buddy had was they were tough to find the right gearing.

When I tried the Laydown XXX's in my Monster's they looked really good, actually really impressive on the robi dyno but could never get the dyno performance to match the on-track performance, so I can see what you are saying being laps off with them.

All I said above in my first comment was it won the dyno war, not the on track war.
I sold my dyno so that shows ya how much faith I have in em, LOL

Huh, and I've been running those in my 19 turns... maybe I should stop

Todd - I know you favor the 26 degrees on your 19T motors.
How about Reedy Platinums at 38 degrees on a 19T Ultrabird on the track?

What about the Reedy Platinums brushes??
Has anyone tried them in a Ultrabird 19T motor at the track?

Putnam X or 4383, red springs, + tweaked alittle. 30degrees timing.

RPM Boylan was running the xxx's at race rock and he was just as fast as me and Billy. I I found the x brush with purple springs works best for me.

Oh yah that Lamballs kid is a skull!!!!!!!!!

RPM: I like 24 degrees, but have had success with both. I won the club race at the Birds with 24 degrees, and ran fast in practice with 36 also. Since the Ultrabird motor has an FB-6 magnet, you don't see the gains in torque at 24 degrees as you do with the FB-9, which is in all the current mod cans, (Ti, D5, Cobalt, V2, etc.)
Best to trial and error to see what works best for you...

Hope this helps,

Is the FB-6 magnets stronger then the FB-9 magnets.

I do know that the Ultrabird motors improve when you zap the magnets after a run.
