I am moving up in racing and need a lathe. I was recently on towerhobbies and noticed the cobra mod lathe was only $100. Will this lathe work on stock motors? If not which ones will?

OUTSIDER6 07-05-2005, 09:59 PM Try to find a old Twister lathe. The best lathes ever made. Either the silver version or the one with the black base, which i think was the better of the two. Do a search on here and on the net for it. Good luck ..................................JM Mark #10 07-06-2005, 12:07 AM If you can afford it.....The Fantom Lathe is AWSOME!! Bought one last summer....used it all winter!! I use the Hudy Advanced com lathe with ball bearing guides. 4 years of cutting and never need to adjust it. Cuts straight every time. Price is right around $120 + $80 or so for a diamond bit competionpark 07-06-2005, 09:22 AM why is a diamond bit so much more valuable? I know the diamond bit is harder than the carbide stock one and it will stay sharp longer, but is there another reason such as a carbide bit doesnt get a good cut or something. uberdub 07-06-2005, 10:41 AM Ok, what's a lathe? I'm new to the scene, and haven't even ever torn my motor apart yet... but I hope to take that step one day. Todd Putnam 07-06-2005, 11:54 AM Comp: The diamond bit not only gives you a better cut,(most important,) but lasts a whloe lot longer between sharpenings... Trust me, go with the diamond bit right off the bat. I was not aware that the bit could be sharpened. It stills cuts good, but I would like to know where I could get it sharpened. erock1331 07-06-2005, 04:47 PM Larry Carter Diamond Tool Corp in Willoughby, OH can take care of you.
