View Full Version : batteries?
uberdub 07-05-2005, 04:04 PM I've been noticing the ads for the Fusion GP3700 and GP3300 batteries. Is there something better besides li-po? Are these the top batteries? Also, I've read about the 3800's not being what everyone thought they'd be, so are the 3700's the same way? What do you guys recommend? Thanks!
needthat22 07-05-2005, 05:21 PM before u buy anything u might want to check where u race at and find out what is legal to run. if maxium is 3300 the obviously that would be the way to go or else u would not be able to run. Another thing is u wanna look at what motor u r running if u r running stock i cant c anything more then 3300 but mod i would buy 3800. just what i would do and my thoughts
KenBajdek 07-05-2005, 06:06 PM From what I've seen the GP3700 are the same as GP3300 with a little more runtime. Voltage and IR's seem to be real close. The IB3600 were junk and I haven't heard anything good about the IB3800. We put a limit on the battery game for the 2005 season to 3700 max. I figure by christmas we will see 4000's. It's too bad it gets cold up here in the winter otherwise we could run nitro and only worry about 1800 to 23oomah batteries for our radios and 1000 to 1200 mah for our receiver packs.
Racin Steve 07-05-2005, 07:19 PM Guys ... the IB3800 IS and WILL be the battery of choice in all classes: Stock and beyond.
I've been testing the IB3800 since May and no other cells perform as good as the IB3800 ... period.
They have killer voltage and resistance when you deadshort them and none come close on runtime when undeadshorted.

katf1sh 07-05-2005, 08:02 PM i agree the IB cells kick azz! run time, dead short and voltz

KenBajdek 07-05-2005, 10:13 PM What kind of numbers are you getting at 30 amps? This is the first positive note that I've read on these IB3800 cells. How are you charging them?

Visit my website for all infos ... www.tqcells.com (http://www.tqcells.com)
I cycle/match at 35 Amps.
The best bracket of cells I have is 1.175+ at 35A ... which is equivalent to 1.190+ at 30 Amps. Runtime bracket is 400+ at 35 Amps ... with most cells in the 420 range (480 at 30 Amps).

Todd Putnam 07-06-2005, 11:59 AM Steve Salvas / TQ Cells is a National Champ Caliber racer who provides National Caliber batteries to his customers as well. He knows what it takes to win, as he and his twin brother (also a National Caliber driver) keep their fingers on the pulse and race all over the country, constantly refining their programs. Stick with TQ and your battery variable will be eliminated...

uberdub 07-06-2005, 12:26 PM The TQ batteries don't come pre-assembled do they? I checked out the website, but to my understanding, you had to assemble them... What's all this bit about dead shorting and stuff? The charger I'm buying will come with a discharger, but I'm not sure about the whole dead shorting stuff...
erock1331 07-06-2005, 01:21 PM uberdub, you might want to check with TQ, because I think for about $4 a pack he will build them with Quality Deans Pro3 bars. Not 100% sure but I am sure if you needed them built, Steve would help you out.
I agree with Todd's statement above. For oval batteries you need someone "in the game" so to speak. Steve makes the circuit and races often to know what we need to stay at the top of our game. Some companies do not put the time in effort into Research and Development, if you will.
I want my battery provider to tell me what's new and exciting in the world of batteries, not me having to tell them.

at 35 amps, shorted IB3800 went 350, 4.75, 9.5 on my GFX
unshorted about 399, 4.65, 9.2, both run extremely strong on the track.
charge them at 6 amps, .02 cutback. with .01 repeak.
.03 gets em a bit too warm.

KenBajdek 07-06-2005, 06:16 PM Thanks for the info everybody. It is good to know that the roll back is .02 but is that 4 cell or 6 cell?

From the TQ IB3800 battery care section ...
Peak detect voltage: 5mV per cell ïclick!
http://www3.sympatico.ca/tqcells/Details.gifJust so you get it right ... 5mV = 0,005V ... that means the recommended peak detect voltage for 4-cell packs is 0,02V and for 6-cell packs is 0,03V ... So your charger should be set at ,02V for 4-cell packs and ,03V for 6-cell packs.
