God, if ONLY it could REALLY happen! Of course, then we'd need the charge to backfire, and crispix Mr. Cruise as well. Maybe have an offshoot branch out, and zap Travolta for a lil bit too...............hehehehehe

Good one Prof! Loved it!

Best Cruise/Scientology zinger I've heard so far was from Lewis Black on The Daily Show, after showing a clip of Cruise ranting at Matt Lauer "Psychiatry is just a pseudo-science, a bunch of quack mumbo-jumbo", the mellow Mr Black responded "Yeah, psychiatry is a bunch mumbo-jumbo. Unlike, say scientology. Hell, we got "science" right there in the name!"

I don't know anything about Scientology or L. Ron Hubbard beyond reading some of his books. After reading the entire Mission:Earth series, which Hubbard ridicules almost every aspect of Earth culture, I couldn't help but wonder if he came up with Scientology just to see if people would fall for it.

Check out the Operation Clambake website. There is a very interesting biography of Hubbard there. It was originally published in '87, but they have the whole thing online, apparenly with the author's permission. Weird guy.

Hubbard told his friends on several occasions that he invented Scientology to see if anyone would fall for it. And for the Money. And chicks.
How gullible do you have to be to fall for it even after you've been told its bullsh*t?

Did anyone see the Jose Chung episode (http://www.tv.com/millennium/jose-chungs-doomsday-defense/episode/25895/summary.html) of Millennium? It was a pretty savage satire of Scientology. For some reason, I don't remember the episode being repeated during the show's network run.

There's no getting around it, Cruise is one unhinged clam.

Anglicans = Catholics without a Pope.
Does that mean all Catholics become Anglicans by default when the pope moves on to greener pastures and they're voting in another one?

The Church of England is like Catholic Lite. Same rituals, but with only half the guilt! — Robin Williams

I don't think it works quite that way, but I've often wondered who fills in for the Pope when he dies and they haven't picked a new one yet. The Vice-Pope? The Assistant Pope? The Lieutenant Pope? A Special Guest Pope?
