one is a monster stock, one is the new roar stock motor... performance wise there pretty even.. i find the assassin is very picky on gearing, and has a bit more rpm's... if i had to choose, id choose the monster..

what does RPM and gearing have to do with the motor being picky? Just wondering. I'm trying to fill my brain with as much info as possible :)

The power band seems to be narrower on the higher RPM stock motors. That makes the gearing more critical, to high or low and the motor won't run in it's good power band.

But if you nail the gearing on the head, it's gonna be a better motor to run with than a lower RPM motor, correct?

Not necessarily.
A lot also depends on the track.
If you run a track with big corners, and there is no lifting,
and very little change in rpm's, then sure it will be good.
But if you are racing on a track with tight turns, or you lift,
or if you can't run perfect lines, you may need a motor that has
good power in a wider band of the motor..
Compare it to an Indy car, versus a big block modified.
The Indy car only runs fast in an rpm range of a few hundred.
The big block can lug in the corners, and still yank you down the straights.

The modified would kill the Indy car on a short track,
but would get blown away on a big one... make sense?

True, good point. That makes sense to me! Thank you.
