Hi all, Me and my neighbor both have a 163cc 5.5HP 4stroke gas cart. His stopped working. Using the process of elimination with my working engine I have found the carb to be fine, as well as oil servicing. The starter was a little weak with the spark but it was good enough to start mine. Now I'm lost. Any suggestions? Also, when bolting the starter to the engine, typically what should the clearance (if any) be between the starter and the flywheel for the pull start? Sorry if I dont use good terminology. Any help would be great.

it will try but thats about it. I think somethings wrong with the magneto- now I just have to learn how those work!

well if it was the mag, it would've, or rather should've given some problems before hand, like cutting out on you after the engine gets hot, and no ability to get it going again till it cools some.... but then again i guess some can just up and short out on you. but if it is the magneto that has failed, it needs to be replaced but i doubt its causing it. but if the keys good, mags good, fuels good, check the compression and then move on to something internally gone wrong.
