Does it really get rid of the glitches? Is it really better?

Is it really better? jsrocket13 07-01-2005, 09:22 PM dont know heard erock say he had problems Racin Steve 07-01-2005, 09:25 PM Spektrum DSM is what you're looking for ... it'll change the way you race ... no more: "WHO'S GOT 86!!!!" or "WHO THE HELL OPENED HIS TRANSMITTER !%!$!". Steve. JPH Racing 07-01-2005, 10:04 PM So far, I've run 19 Turn and Modified with mine and had no problems .... We've sold a few dozen units from the shop, and aside for some offroad guys have troubles (rx pack problems more than anything) the new technology is working very, very well. From a race directors point of view, man I thought I as in heaven when the synthesized stuff hit the shelf ... But, this is even better. No waiting for FREQ clips, no back up channels to sort out ... The only draw back has been too many guys trying to get on the stand at one time to practice! Give it a try, you you'll like it! Good job at Racers Haven at the Southwest tour race!! Later Andy swtour 07-01-2005, 10:50 PM Milky, I wouldn't say the Spektrum "gets rid of glitches" I've run a FUTABA PCM for over 10 years and the only time I've ever got a glitch was if I wrecked and broke a crystal or somehow got the antenna wire cut. A PCM type radio for OVAL racing still works just fine, I would suggest watching who is on what channel and try to find a channel hardly anyone uses and get THAT set of crystals. For Years I was the ONLY one on channel 83, my backup was 69. Usually the ODD numbers don't have as many people using them. But in the last couple years 65 seems to have 1/2 dozen guys running it... The adjustable freq. radios are cool too, where you can select any channel you want. That being said...so far I LOVE THE SPEKTRUM, for just being able to turn the radio on and NOT having to worry about clearing my channel. The next test will be at this months JULY VELODROME event. Hopefully I won't have any RANGE problems. Milky 07-02-2005, 01:15 AM Thanks Joe, I think ill buck up and get it. Itll be one less thing to worry about. Cost wise its about or maybe cheaper than the selectable frequency modules/receivers. I do need a power supply and an extra charger though too. So I may still be undecided. JPH Racing 07-02-2005, 11:46 AM >>>>Good job at Racers Haven at the Southwest tour race!! <<<< Thanks Andy! We sure had a good time running with everyone at the Tour race. I was using a spektrum system there as well .... $135 on ebay is CHEAP! If it's new in the box, even better! Jake Milky 07-02-2005, 01:15 PM yea NIB!!! pepe 07-04-2005, 02:53 PM I would say that it's just a matter of time before most racers are on the spectrum's. rcgen 07-04-2005, 07:12 PM I have like ten sets of crystal for my futaba radio, added the novak synthesized receiver then the module, two month later I got the spektrum. The spektrum is the best of all. Turn the radio on and no worries about the other channels, no waiting for frequency clips and trying to remember what channel you are on. It is also helpful when you run two classes and you don't have to worry about frequency conflicts. I run my spektrum in a touring r and a 1/12 on road. Lots of rubbing with the touring car and the 1/12 I missed a turn and distroyed the frontend. No problems so far (knock on wood). I haven't had chance to run my oval cars with it due to all the rain we've have here. The spektrum in the long run is the best deal. The only problem is there are more drivers on the driver's stand during practice sessions LOL erock1331 07-05-2005, 08:33 AM dont know heard erock say he had problems Jimmy, it really wasn't glitching that was my problem. What I was experiencing was I was using a Quantum 1 with a Digitial Servo (9550) and in the straights the voltage needed to power the spektrum receiver was dropping below the necessary amount to run it. Thus causing the receiver's fail safe to kick in. Luckily I had mine set to hit the brakes and turn left into the infield so I didn't hurt the car nor anyone else's. Another guy running pretty much the same setup at our track had the same problems I did a week earlier. After contacting Spektrum, Sonny Brown (their Oval guru) said they have experienced more problems with LRP's and a Digital Servo combo than any other speedo. He suggest I run a receiver pack until their stutter stopper cap was available. I am currently using a receiver pack and the problems went away. Like Steve and some other said, it is very nice to never had to worry about turning your radio on and needing a freq clip. What I like also is the ability to turn the radio on in the pits and work on setting toe/in/out, setting speedo's up, etc. without being on anyone'd freq. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
