View Full Version : '34 Flam'd Ford Coupe!
StreetFreak 07-01-2005, 08:08 PM Found this 1:24 Ford Coupe at a sidewalk sale last weekend, and had to snag it1 It was sitting there on a table with a bunch of other junk, and beleiev it or not, final price was a buck! The car has a few small chips and one of the headlight assemblies was knocked off, but it was there making it easy to fix.
The detailing on this car is at a 1:24 HW Legend level and looks really authentic. I am not quite sure who made this car (no box or paperwork), but it might have been made by "First Shots"???
It has a tilt front end, opening suicide doors, detailed interior and engine compartment (realistic wiring and hoses), opening rear rumble seat, and the chassis is composed of individual realistic looking parts. It has highly detailed front & rear suspension, separate exhausts, and they even used real metal springs for the coil over shocks!
Anyone know who might have made this car?

looks like the info is there on the runnig boards in the last pic
zeb41 07-04-2005, 01:13 PM Hey Street, I think what you have there is a limited edition piece made by Team Caliber. The WIX logo on that car is what I am basing my judgement on. When I sae that logo I remembered that I have a 50th Anniversary '53 Vette in 1:24 scale that also has a wix logo in it. It's made by team Caliber. I then did a search for the car you have. I couldn't find it, but I did find a WIX '63 Vette that was also made by Team Caliber. Going by these things, I would bet that your car was also made by them. I can't be sure, but that is my guess. Here are a couple shots of my car. Like yours, the detail is excellent. My photos aren't the best but I'm just too lazy to reshoot them today. One other thing, whatever that is that you found, it is an awesome score. I cangratulate you on that one. You must have been geeked when you found it.
zeb41 07-04-2005, 01:52 PM Hesr's the link to the other Corvette that I found.

zeb41 07-04-2005, 02:06 PM StreetFreak,
I think your car was made by First Gear. I did a search for WIX diecast and somehow landed this result.

I think it is your car.
StreetFreak 07-05-2005, 08:14 AM Hey Zeb!
I wasn't just "Geeked" when I found it, but "Stoked" as well, and had a heck of a time gettin that buck out of my pocket fast enough...boy were my hand shakin! LOL!!!
Big THANKS for all the research you did! I was so darn busy this weekend that I didn't have a chance to check into it or even to check this post for replys! I had a feeling that the "Wix" decal on the side had something to do with it.
This car didn't have a box, and due to the paint, was kinda hard to read what was written on the chassis per Gunn's suggestion. The E-bay car you found is identical to mine, less the color and chips in the paint mine has.
Thanks for the pics of your vette! It's a real beauty!
Also thanks for all the info and extra effort you put into this for me!

zeb41 07-05-2005, 09:32 AM No problem Street. I had fun doing the detective work.
StreetFreak 07-05-2005, 10:14 AM Hey Zeb...
I happened to notice those prints in the background of the pics of your vette. Are you a machinist or designer per chance? Just curious!
zeb41 07-05-2005, 12:10 PM Those are old blueprints that came from out of our machine shop. They make great backgrounds for photographing model cars, but mainly I use them for wrapping paper. I also cu them into strips and make bows to accompany the packages I wrap. I think they look cool. I'm really not machinist, but I can do a little of it. What I do is operate machinery that produces wire fasteners for conveyor belts. The blueprints are drawings of obsolete "lacers", the machines that imbed the fasteners into the belt material. I would rather earn a living making art, but I have kids to feed, so I keep working where I'm at to get a regular paycheck and I work on my art when I can.

Zeb...I'm in that same frustrating boat with ya, and couldn't agree with you more! The things that I really enjoy doing like wood working, or jsut being able to create things with my hands from ideas I get, just won't cover the costs in supporting my family. With my long work hours, I sometimes feel like my true talents are just sitting there wasting way!
Bugzy 07-06-2005, 08:08 PM Awesome car you have found StreetFreak..!
..excellent detail...love it..!..congratulations on your find..
and Zeb41...thanks for sharing the info and pics...super looking Vette..!

I hear ya, man. I have so many things I would like to accomplish, but there are sop many other things around home that need to do first. I just have to plug away slowly. Eventually I get something done.
CJTORINO 07-14-2005, 11:39 PM That 3 window is B-A-D,badbadbad. what a great snag.
pays to keep your eyes open.
Honestly Mike, what a fantastic find. congrats.
and thanks for the great pictures.
Lightningrick 08-15-2005, 06:39 PM Very nice detail!!!!
StreetFreak 08-19-2005, 09:13 PM For those of you that might like a 1:24th scale car like the one shown at the start of the original post...check this out!
I happened to go into Walmart today, and to my surprize there was a Metal Model made by "Testors" Lincoln Mint collection, of the same dad-burn car! It isn't made for "WIX" like the one I initially showed is, but it's the exact same car other wise. The Metal Model Body is already pre-painted with the Red w/flames etc, so it's just a matter of putting it together.
I decided to buy it so that I could build it and add some extra details of my own. :p
Here are a couple pics in case any of you are interested and would like to pick one up. There was only one available at the Walmart close to me, so wishing you all luck at the Walmarts in your areas!

Lightningrick 08-20-2005, 07:39 AM That kicks butt!!!!
CJTORINO 08-20-2005, 05:00 PM Thanks Mike!
I have not seen that kit on the shelves, but will be really looking for it now.
A few mods here and there, and that could be a heckuva nice '34.
next time I hit the city, I'll have to hunt that one down.
Thanks again.
