I made a dumb mistake and removed the head bolts on my HS50 and did not lable them. I have three different sizes of head bolts.
Does anyone know the pattern for the head bolts (HS50 Ariens snowblower).

When I was a kid I use to pull small engines apart and would forget tha pattern myself. One way ( maby not the ideal way ) is to stick a long thin wire in each bolt hole and mesurer its overall length ( for each hole ) then look at witch holes were the longest to the shotest by groups and then match that to your bolts ( as groups ) you might get your answer.
As a guess , the shorter bolts usally go over and around where the valves are to avoid going throught the valve acsess hole on side of block.
As I said its a guess , its been years and years ( Hmmm making me think about how old I am WOW ) since I have worked on small engines.
Good luck.

I did figure the bolt pattern out. On this engine two bolts had an additional threaded top (to hold snow shoot). Four longer bolts (two used spacers) that you could tell by the thickness of the head where they went. Two short bolts again holes with thinner head area (IE Shorter hole)
Engine fired right up. I did get some leaking from the primer builb hose (seamed to stop). I also have slight (very light) smoking. This seams to be all over the head and may be the penatrating oil burning off. The snowblower is ready for a few more years of snow - not bad for a 20 year old ariens.
