scraps z 07-05-2005, 03:12 PM I took a ride out to the Smithton Hole track this past Sunday. Spent an hour or so talking with Matt and checking out the track. The track has some unique features...elevation changes, high bank berms, hole, etc. The hillside next to the straight is in the process of being angled and cleared for improved visability. A drivers stand, onsight trailer, and electricity are all in the works. They even placed a nice sized french drain next to the front straight for drainage. I'm looking forward to racing on this track.
Here are a few pics of the track, sorry for the poor quality...these were taken using the still mode on my digi camcorder...

Thanks for drag racing at Heinz Field last week... that Jato runs pretty good!
Mike
Mike I though Steel City was building a dirt track or are you tied into the one in Smithton?
aljones 07-20-2005, 10:24 PM Matt - good luck with the opening weekend! I have to work on Sunday, so I won't be able to race but will be back out sometime soon. Can't wait to take some laps, the place looked good a few weeks ago when I stopped out there.

xxx-s_t-maxx 07-21-2005, 12:19 AM I am going to go out some sunday. I want to race my modded t-maxx, built for raceing. does any one else fit into this class?
Mike@SteelCity 07-21-2005, 06:32 PM Kaug,
I would like to think SCH supports all tracks in Pittsburgh. Good customers built a track not far from the store (about 1hr 15min from Smithton) that needs a little more detail work, we hope to be racing in a week or two depending on the help.
Matt & DelRay's track is up and ready to go now! Maybe we will do a few joint races with a championship series, etc. later this summer? It is all about having fun!

Matt@Raceway 07-28-2005, 12:46 PM any update on this weekend racing?
We'll be racing this weekend. And we will be starting on time, so we can get all the rounds in before the mains. Anybody that is late will just have to jump in. I got all the problems worked out with the software . And the timing loop will be buried also. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. Hope to see you sunday!
JSP51N RACING 07-28-2005, 10:31 PM Matt, Sometimes it takes a few weeks racing to get the bugs out of the lap counter and timing. I hope to make it down and see it fist hand some sunday.

Matt,
Are you thinking of running a points series? And if so, will there be prizes or awards to the winners?
xxx-s_t-maxx 07-31-2005, 10:17 PM I went to the race track today and raced my friends revo. This track is a great track from what iv seen around town. I highly recomend paying these guys a visit.
The track is a good size and has a great lay out, nothing too hard nothing too simple. The dirt or clay mixture was great, it hugged the tires well. The main straight away was a little loose but was on a hard surface.
Im hopeing to make it out again in 2 weeks.
highster 08-03-2005, 08:52 PM Matt,

Chris_Wolfson 04-05-2006, 02:58 PM Pete or anyone else - Directions to the track from Pittsburgh?
Thanks,
Chris
Pete Vitale 04-06-2006, 04:28 PM Guys, go to this link below. There is a link that will map you there. If it still is the same last year, they raced on Sunday's and started at two. That could change, hopefully they won't move to Saturday. I went once last year and had a good time. Its an old school typed of track in a true off road sense. Leave your taper pins at home. I used Ifmar stud and T-Bone tires and directionals up front. Red all around. I'd like to go again sometime this year. But you know how much I get out nowadays!

Matt@Raceway 05-12-2006, 02:32 PM Hey what's up guys? I haven't posted here in a while. The spring points series is is well under way! You can check out the results at our new site www.teamraceway.com. We get about 25 or so trucks every week. The 2wd electric class is growing, and we're trying to start an unlimited class for all those truggy guys out there. the monsters still rule and still no buggies! We now have bleachers and the second light is up(night racing coming soon!!!) The spring point series will run till the end of june. Then in july the summer points series will begin. The winner of every class will receive a $100 gift certificate to use in store.
We are planning on a "Dash For Cash" race July 2nd under the lights. There will be food, fun, and prizes along with cash prizes for the winners. Check back here or at our site for more details.
