Once my chassis is good how do you go about gearing? Stock 19 turn modified whatever, how do you get in the ballpark, say at a track youve never ran? Are there any formulas etc.??? Im lost on gearing.

Im lost on gearing. burbs 06-29-2005, 09:57 PM It depends on tire size, track size, how tight the track is.. and if your car is good, it will depend on otor performance as well.. your best bet is to ask someone.. i usually find a balpark.. then look at my lap times.. depending on the track, your lap times should only fall off a slight amount... Milky 06-29-2005, 10:04 PM Yea I figured laptimes but Im still looking to be somewhat consistent. I was thinking maybe there was a proper procedure. OK I usually ask. burbs 06-30-2005, 12:46 AM once you find the proper rollout.. there is a formula... tire diameter X 3.14 =x pinion div by spur = y take x div by y this will be your rollout so tire dia 2.20 X 3.14 = 6.908 100 spur div by 33 toth pinion = 3.03 now take 6.908 div 3.03 = 2.27 this is your rollout there is a short formula to use to but my brain isnt working... i just do a list for my spur... for the ratio... then check the list for the number to divide.. uberdub 06-30-2005, 11:03 AM What would you recommend for tire size? Larger is better correct (to some degree)? All I have are the 1/10th scale rims... erock1331 06-30-2005, 11:18 AM Kinda depends on the track. If extra traction and handling bumps are what you are after I suggest 2.22-2.30 If you have a smooth track and a track and that has a lot of traction to where you dont need all the sidebite then I run Jaco's clear down to 2.09 up to about a 2.22 ohiorcracer 06-30-2005, 06:02 PM tire size x 3.145 x pinion / spur = rollout thats the short cut vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
